Re: The brand you'd like to own in the future, if they sort out their current issues

My vote goes to Tata. Would love to own one of their cars but reliability, QC, long term ownership, ASS amongst other things need to be improved.

I would love to own VW cars. Been in love since the Jetta. However hate their DSG failures and their indifferent ways towards customers

Re: The brand you'd like to own in the future, if they sort out their current issues

Skoda Kodiaq L&K --> Mild/Strong Hybrid + Massage Seats + Sportline's Seats, Steering wheel & Interior tone + Octavia's shift-by-wire technology + AC vents for 3rd row + Kick Sensor for the tailgate + Assured peace of mind (may be additional warranty on DSG).

Similarly, Skoda Superb L&K --> Mild/Strong Hybrid + Massage Seats + Assured peace of mind (may be additional warranty on DSG) + Totally new age interiors + Octavia's shift-by-wire technology

Looking at the responses so far, I really hope TATA Motors is watching this thread

Majority of votes are for Tata but I own the 2017 Tata Nexon and never faced support issues in Bengaluru. The car itself has been niggle free, and between Adishakti, Classic, Key Motors I got very good service. (I stay with the car during service, must add). Voted VW.

Re: The brand you'd like to own in the future, if they sort out their current issues

Skoda, Skoda and only Skoda.. The cars look BEAUTIFULLY CLASSY. They are superbly engineered and are FASSTTT and SAFFEE. Too many caps? Yes, because they are great cars.

BUT

I will not buy one because of the niggles, attitude of the staff and pathetic after sales. I know the experts on this forum say "I dont mind 10 days of hassle in a year if the rest of the time I have a smile on my face".. Well, it is NOT as simple as that and we all know it.

If Skoda can give Toyota like after sales service to us, I will book a Kodiaq immediately. I need that peace of mind. I am like that!

Re: The brand you'd like to own in the future, if they sort out their current issues

Woah- I am quite surprised, happy at the same time seeing majority voting for Tata! I would've voted for Tata if and only if they'd something competent enough as their counterpart Mahindra's 7OO!

7OO is such a great car which is an all-round and perhaps the only car in my entire life I've felt that strong inner-surge to own a big car and a big car is just a 7OO for me! It's a dream for now but I'm sure I will realize that dream one day and I will be a Mahindra's customer one day

Re: The brand you'd like to own in the future, if they sort out their current issues

1. Jeep - I find the Compass and Meridian extremely desirable. But, I will keep away if the carmaker offers poor service or the car has poor reliability and parts are not easy to source.

2. Citroen - The C5 Aircross is a car I find hard to resist. Love the looks, the performance, the gearbox and the ride is in a league of its own. It's rare, which guarantees exclusivity. But, Citroen's dealer and service networks are tiny. Long-term reliability and maintenance costs are unknown.

3. Skoda - I like the Slavia. It's spacious, comfortable, good looking, not too big and the 1.5 performs like a boss. But, Skoda's horror stories scare the hell out of me.

Re: The brand you'd like to own in the future, if they sort out their current issues

I voted for Volkswagen. They have nice products (I personally love the VW Virtus), but I would touch them only if they sort out their after-sales service. They should also advertise their products, a bit more and take accountability for their DSG gearboxes.

Re: The brand you'd like to own in the future, if they sort out their current issues

What about servicing ? That the single most pain point for most manufacturers.

They take Indian customers for granted and we have to deal with unprofessional dealers who will do anything for a tiny profit. Often we are left to fend for ourselves with no major support form the manufacturer.

The company works to sort this problem out will definitely get 100% votes from all of us.

Re: The brand you'd like to own in the future, if they sort out their current issues

I’d buy a Mercedes, if they bring their reliability to Lexus levels. Frankly, buying a luxury priced car feels pointless to me. But, i will make an exception for a Mercedes - it tugs on the heart like no other brand does!

Re: The brand you'd like to own in the future, if they sort out their current issues

I have voted for Tata Motors. Their products look lovely, they are nice to drive as well. However, I am still scarred by the terrible ownership experience of the only Tata vehicle I owned (and sold in the earliest opportunity and bought a pre-owned Innova)

A close second is Maruti (safety, better quality parts)

Re: The brand you'd like to own in the future, if they sort out their current issues

I am NOT voting this thread. I feel no finite value voting this question as the vote does not reveal any sense. There are so many combined factors like brand value, value for money, price, after sales, reliability, resale, consistency, spares availability, etc combined in one question .

I literally hate owning a Tata, Mahindra, Suzuki , Hyundai or Kia. To me, the main stream cars does not give me pride in owning a car even though it may be a "value of money" model. Even if above brand does give good reliable cars at throw away price, I am not going to own as I don't FEEL the brand connect to me.

Instead I would love to own a MNC brand like Toyota , Honda, Nissan, MG, VW ,skoda . That brand FEEL you get while driving these is something different than buying a common brand.! Also it give owning a niche car feel that you won't get from mainstream brands/models.

I also find it ironic that this poll which is actually a negative poll means, at this moment, the brand which score high score is highly unreliable or pricey or bad in service, etc whatsoever problem the respondent have in their mind. It depicts that brand scoring HIGH would have less sale volume.

But the reality is opposite! The brands having lowest score in poll has lowest volume in our Market !!! And most brand with high score has high volumes. Especially Tata and Mahindra on fire in volume charts !

So does this poll really prove anything correct ?

I will end by saying the problem with our market is with our people and not the brands.

We tend to give importance only to " resale" and "service reach" the end of the day when we finalize our purchase decision eg.a Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata or Mahindra.

This poll reveals lowest scorer i.e the best brands to buy at THIS moment like Renault, Nissan, MG ( No votes yet), Citroën are only good for the talk and not to own in real of the reason unknown .

Re: The brand you'd like to own in the future, if they sort out their current issues

Can't vote yet as I'm a newbie.

It'll be a competition between Tata and Maruti with Tata eventually winning for their new design language. We own a 2019 Tiago and have seen the Altroz, Nexon and Harrier and hopefully the Sierra comes to life soon. MS somehow aren't as appealing to me yet. TaMo definitely needs to up their game in the aftersales - service centers are over crowded with cars and under crowded with mechanics, and the obvious cuts or lacks in the quality check process. What I like though is their responsiveness once reported, but I shouldn't have to go there as a user. Am I among the few folks who think MS need to fix their nomenclature for models?

Re: The brand you'd like to own in the future, if they sort out their current issues

Voted maruti. Cheap cars, great service, if only they could build 5 star models.
Tata is on the other side. 5 star, feature Laden cars but rotten dealers

Voted maruti because their problem is just a leadership decision away. Tata... That's a much bigger underlying culture problem. We'll probably solve the Kashmir problem before that.
