Top speed of the Xing is around 141 kmph. I think we have a case of a faulty speedo !

I have driven a Santro ( an ex-Xing ) and anything over 100 kmph seems like you are putting too much strain on the car.
It feels composed at around the 85-95 kmph mark.

SLK, thats hogwash. Tell you friends to keep on dreaming. Breadbox aerodynamics, short gearing and a not-so-strong power to weight ratio will keep the Xing below 150.

Autocarindia tested the Xing for a top whack of 141 kph. Even with a 8% speedo error, 152 kph on the gauge. There is no way....not the expressway slopes or wind forces that can make a Zing show 170 on the speedo. But wait, is the Santro even marked till 170? Can anyone confirm?

Ya GTO Santros are marked till 180 which is not their capacity... Mine is marked....

I think case of faulty speedo and with a help of downhill slope then only its possible

In my opinion, the Santro, Zing or otherwise is good for 140km/h and one has to be either brave or stupid to achieve that speed. 170km/h is out of question.

hmmm...this gives me an idea...with the right head wind...why not add wings and use the juhu airstrip....only you need a modification to transfer the the power to a prop when airborne...conjoures images of chitty chitty bang bang.

Speedo indicated 170kmph is possible on a Xing, but the true speed will always be below 150kmph.

My friend here, who has a Ikon 1.6 claims to have seen the needle touch 200kmph. Mags claim it to be around 165kmph.

Never trust your speedo, unless it's sat navigated.

Regards...

Well i agree to Rehaan to some extent... may be aftermarket tyres.!
And even if downhill... i dont think santro can bear that... or to say jokingly..
SOME ONE HAS HACKED HIS SPEEDO METER

no way unless the slope drops almost 90 degrees.the max that a santro can do comfortable with 3-4 people is 100-120kph.anything faster is simply reckless driving as it is not meant for driving like that.
170 is total crap
