It is in fact, almost as fast as the BMW X5 40i which does the same sprint in 5.4 seconds. In terms of sheer output numbers, it offers 100NM more Torque, not including the boost from the mild hybrid tech. Instantaneous torque at start up with the hybrid fully active reaches close to a mental 1000NM!
If you compare the numbers / stats only, definitely the GLE 450D feels better, but when I recently drove a GLE300D (with 0-100 in 6.9 secs), the car did not feel planted on high speeds with a lot of pitch and bounce in the rear on every slight adulations. The lack of sports mode and suspension configuration maybe to blame, and so, it felt best suited if you are chauffeured around instead.

Not sure if 450D gets sports mode or not though!

Well, it depends on if you sit behind the steering or not. If you are a driving enthusiast, then the comparison with GLE doesn't make sense. If you are chauffeur driven then the GLE is an option.

That said, I still maintain the diesel tune in the GLE450D is superior to the BMW 40D. Not only does the Benz have 27 HP and 50 NM more, all that torque is available from much lower down in the rev range. The GLE450D makes 750 NM all the way from 1350 RPM to 2800 RPM while the X7 40D makes 700 NM in a narrow band from 1750-2250 RPM. The 450D is going to be absolutely unstressed at higher speeds compared to the 40D.
Bit difficult to come to this conclusion with just 27hp and 50nm right? Which aren't too much in the larger scheme of things. Gearbox tuning etc also plays a part in the way the vehicle drives, and I am certain the BMW is going to be more fun in this regard.

There were some supplies in the Exterior grey variant with Ivory last year - November/December, if I remember- for both X5 and X7. Currently, there are no plans, and if you look at the BMW configurator, there is only one colour option. If you don't have something similar (interior colour), it's a lovely and more maintainable colour.

No, it would help if you drive an X7 over long distances. The engine is so silent and has an economy never seen before on such large BMW Diesel engines, even when driven hard. I won't be surprised if 30-D on X5 beats the 450-D just because of the 8-speed gearbox. We can find the 0-100 or 40-100 times on brochures, but the real world differs. The kick you get on an X5-30D has to be different than whatever MB does- that's guaranteed,

Sarcastically, I got a message from the dealer which says “ BMW is now officially world’s best selling automaker “ ! Wonder how the tag without much being delivered.
From what I understand, they have decided to discontinue the Skyscraper Grey metallic colour.

You're better off choosing another colour.

Thanks orthopod ! Moved on from Skyscrapper grey XLine. If anyone’s looking for this colour XLine, the Mangalore dealer has one available for next month delivery.

Got an allocation for X5 40i Msport Tanzanite blue with Merino interior from the Bangalore dealer finally. Should be getting the delivery next week !

450d gets switchable air suspension and all the bells and whistles. 300d is very basic tbh, lacking even memory seats the last time I was in one despite the atrocious price.

With the facelift, the 300d finally gets memory seats. The new 300d is quite decently specced now, even the read seats now get the electric adjust function. The only major differences that remain are: I4 vs I6 Engines, Lack of front ventilated seats on the 300d(300d only gets heated seats) and Air Suspension.

Hearty congratulations! Do post your review with pictures.

Also, what are the main differences between the petrol X5 XLine and Msport (beyond the Msport branding elements) for the 14-lacs difference (in Karnataka)?
  • Air suspension
  • Heads-up display
  • Comfort seat (vs sports seat on Xline)
  • Anything else?

Re: BMW X5 Facelift launched at Rs. 93.90 lakh

All set for delivery of this beauty this week !

Downloaded & registered on myBMW app which seems to track the status of the vehicle quite well.

Interestingly as I was exploring the app, two days ago, I got a tire change notification on it (pic enclosed). Should I be worried about it ? I did notify the dealer about the same.

Hopefully the (Continental) tires are not interchanged with their Demo cars which were also parked in the same stock yard. Anyway to check the stock tires ? The mileage on the vehicle is only 26 km though.

She looks stunning in blue and congrats.

Don't think the car/app can recognise changing the tyre. Make sure you check that alloys don't have any mark whatsoever and tyres don't have any uneven wear. All the best.

I think this has something to do with the selection of tyre on the vehicle, you can set on the idrive. It allows you to choose summer/ winter and different sizes and automatically set relevant tyre pressure. Dealership must have configured to the correct type after software upgrade most likely. They won't touch the tyres, and nor will the car know on its own, so relax

Thank you Turbanator, that’s reassuring .

After I notified the dealer, as part of the PDI, I was removed as the primary user of my car’s app. Now, I’m thinking I shouldn’t have told .

Looking forward for a smooth and clean delivery tomorrow., shall post a detailed review shortly.
