I had noticed it as well and then decided to check XUV4OO's gear knob (pic below). That's very similar to the normal automatic gear lever / knob, so that can't quite be a differentiator for and ICE / EV vehicle.

I hope we see all options on the 3XO, but confused as to what'll be the XUV4OO positioning then.

A successful 300 [4.0 meter] and 500 [4.5/4.5 meters] will put Mahindra among Hyundai / TATA competing for the #2 spot. M&M is currently doing 40k monthly and 50-53K is the mile stone for number 2 spot. 4.0 | 4.4m is highly competitive but only these segments have to juice to get the additional 10K sales required

re: Mahindra XUV 3XO launched at Rs. 7.49 lakh

Personally I think there won’t be another 300 EV just below 400 EV as both are basically same car except for the chopped boot. Unlike ICE cars, there isn’t any tax (GST) benefit under 4m for EV cars. I would imagine the cost to manufacture 400 body shell could be almost same as 300 body shell. So only way to reduce pricing is to introduce a smaller battery pack like 30kWH. Current pricing indicates they can reduce the price by another 75,000 Rs with 30 kWH. This will bring the XUV400 pricing on par with Nexon MR. There is no space for 300 ev honestly.

It is another discussion that Mahindra has scope to introduce a completely new product (XUV 1xx) to compete against Punch.ev and reintroduce a fresh & modern take on e2o plus against comet & tiago.

XUV 3XO, in all probability, is just facelift of 300 with updated drivetrains and features. Hopefully it is a compelling update to take on Nexon and Sonet.

re: Mahindra XUV 3XO launched at Rs. 7.49 lakh

Quick question - Is the 29th April a full fledged launch with pricing , etc.? Or is this the typical Mahindra stuff of 'unveil' thereafter releasing the details in bits and pieces?

I am in the market for a sub 4m SUV and have kept my Sonet booking on hold. Don't want to regret if this 3XO proves to be a hit later !

The feature set is really tempting , but the pricing and boot space could be a deal breaker.

If you are holding off any purchase due to a new Mahindra launch, you should keep in mind that any new Mahindra vehicle must not be purchased within 1 year of launch (preferably two).

They are so full of bugs initially that the first batch users feel like guinea pigs for their experiments and it is only after the first 1-2 years, Mahindra fixes the bugs and issues.

Not necessarily. With CAE simulations, the opening required the desired amount of air flow inside to help cooling the engine is allowed. Only the additional air that would cause turbulence inside the engine bay and could affect the heat removal from the cooling system is what is stopped.

So actually, the cooling system is not being burdened, it is being helped in fact.

This is already present in the present generation XUV300, so I see no reason discontinuing the same.

Give this car a torque converter with the TGDi and it would smoke everything else in the segment and many in the segment above!

Think from a long term perspective while buying a new vehicle, the daily driving experience is more important than saving a little cost now. Except for the boot space, XUV3X0 is likely to be more spacious, safe and has a excellent set of engines. So its an overall superior vehicle compared to the Sonet. Price is likely to reflect that with all the rumored features like Pano Sunroof, TC with the GDI turbo engine an so on. Also, since this is like a 2nd gen launch of an established product, there will be no shock pricing like XUV500/XUV700. It'll rather be as per the segment benchmarks, unless they plan to make a splash and have the production capacities to eat into the sales of Nexon/Brezza/Venue/Sonet.

I agree since its a Mahindra, but in this case it is more of an update, and there have been no mechanical issues reported in recent batches of XUV300. Infotainment is surely going have random issues and Kia might fare better in this aspect. Even the latest batch of XUV700[recently got one] has one off infotainment issues, though mechanically its a good product.

Well , this is more or less confirmed to be happening and we have sufficient rumors to prove this.

The thump card will be IF they equip their explosive Diesel with a TC.

The headlights reminds me of the Dilip chabria modifications done to regular cars back in the late 90s, early 00s.

re: Mahindra XUV 3XO launched at Rs. 7.49 lakh

I just happened to come across a You tube video yesterday , where the anchor mentioned that the media drives are starting somewhere next week , probably on 18th April onwards ; and that the reviews should be out on the launch day i.e. 29th April.

Can somebody confirm this , our Mods maybe?

What kind of connected taillight design is this? Looks horrendous.

I hope it gets the TC automatic too. I see the segment filled with DCTs and am not sure of their reliability. Brezza has TC but somehow I didn't quite like it.

Well, this is inspired from Mahindra's logo.I think the new headlights also took it's inspiration from the same.

re: Mahindra XUV 3XO launched at Rs. 7.49 lakh

The teaser raised the expectations, perhaps more than it should. I feel, after the level of hype generated, the full reveal may look a bit too familiar. Seems all major changes are revealed in the teaser itself.

The side silhouette seems same as existing. It's more likely that engines, transmissions & suspension remains the same. They are the strengths of existing car. In a way, the update feels more like the changes Nexon underwent (front, rear & the dashboard are the main changes) - with the addition of Panoramic sunroof. Hope it feels fresh at the launch.
