Re: New Mahindra Compact SUV spotted | XUV300 Facelift?

Mahindra XUV300 to get new automatic gearbox. Launch likely in first half of 2024. The automatic version will be TC sourced from Aisin

Facelift to get more features and a panoramic sunroof.

while its interiors are likely to remain largely similar, it will feature a larger, more modern touchscreen infotainment, and it could also feature a digital instrument cluster. But what’s likely to significantly boost its premium quotient is the addition of a segment-first panoramic sunroof. And we now have confirmation that it will get a new automatic transmission.

Mahindra is looking to introduce the updated XUV300 with an Aisin-sourced 6-speed automatic (torque converter), which is likely to replace the 6-speed automated manual transmission (AMT). The new transmission is likely to be far smoother than the AMT and improve the drive experience.

Re: New Mahindra Compact SUV spotted | XUV300 Facelift?

Finally, a sensible change from Mahindra. The AMT was known mostly for its reliability concerns. With the Torque converter gearbox, it remains to be seen how it translates to real world performance.

Looks Like XUV300 would be a significant competition to new Nexon, Brezza and Venue.

I wish Nexon could have replaced the AMT with Torque converter AT or CVT. Some auto companies are realizing the problems customers go though with AMT gearbox, especially on the reliability aspect.

Re: New Mahindra Compact SUV spotted | XUV300 Facelift?

About time! XUV300 is such a fantastic car to drive, but that AMT was really a terrible choice of transmission. If Mahindra can provide a little more boot space and sensibly kit it up, they will have another almost perfect vehicle in the segment.

Re: New Mahindra Compact SUV spotted | XUV300 Facelift?

I am of the opinion that they should not invest much in this segment, it's wasteful to develop a variant of mHawk/mStallion for such low volumes among various other things that XUV3OO does not share with any other vehicle.

Panoramic sunroof and a proper AT will bump up the price significantly but without equally luxurious interiors & all new exterior design, new infotainment system etc. this vehicle won't take off, expectations are already set.

Agree that the XUV300 is kinda middle child. Not old Mahindra, not all new Mahindra, but based on the now divorced Ssangyong. But Mahindra had already heavily reworked on the Tivoli to make it into the XUV300, not just sliced the boot off. They would rather rework on the XUV300 than designing a grounds up new product for the sub 4m segment.

Have to disagree on the engine part. Unlike TATA's situation, Mahindra has a problem of not enough models to put their engines in. The 1.2l TGDi petrol from the mStallion family is already there in the XUV300 TurboSport, while the 1.5l diesel D15 is modern enough till diesels are banned from sale. Coupling the XUV300 engines to the 6-speed Aisin TC won't be futile as the upcoming XUV500 will be sharing the XUV300 engines. Wait... The 1.2l TGDi won't be shared with the XUV500, it will have the 1.5l TGDi petrol. But the 1.5l D15 diesel of the XUV300 will be shared with the XUV500, so it definitely makes more sense for Mahindra to couple the 6-speed Aisin TC with the diesel, more than the petrol!!!

Thanks for the train of thoughts.

They redesigned the upper part of the dashboard, plonked a tablet on top of the dash. Hopefully digital instrument clusters in the top variants. Front end styling is heavily reworked. Guess, it will make the market take notice. Yes, it is not as successful as the Nexon, but it has stable sales figures every month since launch.

Re: New Mahindra Compact SUV spotted | XUV300 Facelift?

Mahindra, please also get the ICE XUV400 (elongated 300). You might just give a huge competition to the Korean CSUVs and perhaps the Curvv !

Is it the same 6-speed Gearbox that Taigun/Virtus 1.0L, XUV700, Toyota's, and Brezza, Citroen C5 use?

Unless the boot size is worked upon, no matter what feature or gearbox they add, xuv300 is not going to sell.

Re: New Mahindra Compact SUV spotted | XUV300 Facelift?

I believe I am the minority here who wants the small boot size to remain as it is, just so that the rear seat legroom doesn't get compromised.

Want a sub-4m SUV with Creta rivaling rear seat? Buy a XUV300.
Want to have more space for suitcases, instead of a more comfortable back seat for your parents/children? Buy any one of the other half a dozen compact SUVs.

It's that simple.

Re: New Mahindra Compact SUV spotted | XUV300 Facelift?

There is a lack of a safe non amt diesel automatic SUV. If equipped well the 300 will surely eat into the sales of mid size crossover segment as well.

The XUV300's impropotional design is what holds it back. Also the HVAC controls as per the spy shots remain unchanged, they feel very dated.

If reports are true about the diesel-asin tranny combo it would be interesting to see if mahindra equips the Bolero neo with the same

Re: New Mahindra Compact SUV spotted | XUV300 Facelift?

That is one ugly looking car, especially when looked sideways!

The abrupt chopping of the boot section has crippled this otherwise good car with plagued boot space.

I think this is a lost opportunity. Mahindra should have axed this platform and put the ICE in the 400 chassis. Hard to understand whether this sub 4m still provides any tax benefit worth continuing with this body.

Mahindra Cars Spotted on road test near Cheyyar, TN

While returning from a diwali trip, I spotted multiple Mahindra Cars on road test near Cheyyar in Tamil Nadu.

I spotted two cars this time, and I could only take photographs of one, which were also blurry.

The other car that I saw was an EV with a camouflage in neon green colour. It had a very distinct and sporty styling with a very aero focussed hood, akin to the ones we see on sports cars. I think it was the XUV BE07, but I'm not really sure.

I regularly spot Mahindra cars on test in this route and boy do they drive fast! Maybe the test driver drove too fast to escape from being photographed!

More images: Mahindra XUV300 facelift caught testing near Chennai

The XUV300 facelift has been spotted testing once again, this time near Chennai. The latest spy images reveal a few design details of the upcoming sub-4 meter SUV.

New Mahindra Compact SUV spotted | XUV300 Facelift?-img_20231124_134211078.jpg

The XUV300 will receive a thoroughly revised rear end. As you can see, the tailgate has a more angular design with new C-shaped tail lamps on either side. Keeping with the latest design trend, the SUV could also get an LED light bar at the back. While the short rear overhang has been retained, the car gets new dual-tone alloy wheels.

The XUV300 facelift will carry forward the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. Currently, Mahindra offers a choice of 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic on all engines. The all-electric XUV400 could also receive similar updates in the future.

The new XUV300 and XUV400 will compete with the updated Tata Nexon and its pure-electric counterpart.

Re: New Mahindra Compact SUV spotted | XUV300 Facelift?

The design is coming out real nice. Till now, it doesn't look overstyled. The new look boot has fixed the 'chopped up' look to a great extent. And those wheels, really cool. The interiors will be at par with the times now. Only thing remains to be seen is the boot space. If they have managed to carve out some more space, this car will be almost perfect
