Topgear isnt be all it all in car industry...the quality of Cady's today is almost at power with MB and BMW, since the quality of MBs and BMWs have come down significantly...Cady's gained afew notches and MB/BMW dropped putting them almost at the same level..

Unfortunetly for Cady they dont have too many engine choices for the same car..since they go with the biggest engine they would have to launch the same in India..which will price it right where MB is priced...the only good seller I can see for Cady is CTS and now may be XLR , thats it..the new Lexus GS/LS(one of the 2, i forgot the price) should give the STS a big competition...since STS wouldnt come here for anything less than 40-50+ lakhs pricing it higher than E..and this is Luxury V6 which the bottom 2nd choice..if you go higher, like a V8(wouldnt be a choice in india) you can go higher than the S...

The CTS would be priced about 29-37(same config) lakhs depending on how they bring the car to india...which is again head on E class...

XLR would be around 63-78 lakhs again depending on how they plan to bring it in India..which is a good price I feel but then again is priced right around 911 price range..

but these prices are with everything on Road..so it can be a deciding factor for many...It would be a difficult choice for me if I had to spend this kind of cash...between 911 and XLR and E and CTS.. STS and DTS would be out of the question for me since I am not going to be interested in them...

In the current situation where the cars in INdia are priced more than in Developed countries A caddy will be too expensive.

Here a camry costs similar to a corolla.

will cadillac be successful in India?

as per:
GM to drive in Cadillac - Automobiles-Auto-News By Industry-News-The Economic Times

GM is planning to bring cadillac CTS in india.
the main question:
would anyone prefer it over Merc, BMW or Audi?, even though it has a rich heritage?

This car looks good, but with a lot of sharp edges and straight lines. I would prefer the elegant curves over these straight lines any day. I dont think the Cadillac can beat over the BMW, AUDI and Mercedes in India unless priced less.

People will like it but will never catch up like the Japanese and german marquees!

There will be lots of shortcomings attached to this car like any other american car.

Aren't the pictures of the slightly older Cadillacs? The new CTS looks pretty good.

I doubt the success of Cadillac in India. Two reasons:

- They will have to compete with Mercedes, BMW and Audi.

- No diesel engine.

- What petrol engine will they have? The 3.6L V6?

...

CTS-V please!

I like Acuras, so I like the CTS. Sharp angles are fine with me

Its gonna be tough. With Merc, Audi and BMW no marketing was required because the public already knew about them and were waiting. Caddillac (at lease the new Caddillac) is an unknown entity and they have an uphill battle with building brand image. Funnyly in China they as well as Buick have been very well received.

It will sell in some numbers, provided pricing is below 20L and it is CKD.
CBU will not sell here over and above the first few gizmo collectors.

This is possible, but with a few things in mind:
1) Its not CBU and that " Premium " german or Japanese brang.
2) It has a nice diesel engine range available.
3) The overall A.S & S. network and quality must be one of the best.
4) The brand must be developed separately rather than showing attachment to GM.

I wouldn't buy it or even look at it.
For me its just another muscle car no matter it's some variant might have proved to be the fastest sedan around the 'ring.

I'd prefer something more agile, more involving ( Read : German )

The pictures may not have done justcie to this car. In flesh it is a stunner, particularly tha black one. It will no doubt stand apart in the crowd of Beemers and Mercs.
