Re: The one car you will realistically buy, if it changed 2 - 3 things about itself

Probably a tata safari, if the aftersales were good.

It is one of the cars that we are seriously considering buying, against the creta, xuv, nexon, etc. The facelift is very good looking, a good engine and quite spacious. One of the feature loaded manuals is a good buy since we had this engine in compass where i really enjoyed the toque and way it drove. The 350Nm diesel engine obviously.

However, youtube videos already show the average quality interiors where the Plastics come off easily. Let's see what happens.

Re: The one car you will realistically buy, if it changed 2 - 3 things about itself

For me this would be my 3 cars (if money was not a consideration)

1. Ford Endeavour 3.2. Exactly the way it. Small changes - the head unit etc but man what mechanicals, what capability and what gem of a vehicle. (its like being at the 4th camp just before Everest summit). Can it be a hybrid please?

2. Tata Nexon EV - Please give a range of 650 kms (realistically) and see how it changes the EV world in no time. I am certain this could happen sooner rather than later.

3. A Merc E220 Long wheel base version (with Bermister). Change of head unit again (please Merc - head units or anything with a screen is touch screen!!!) And what about it being a Hybrid please?

Cheers

Re: The one car you will realistically buy, if it changed 2 - 3 things about itself

Very very easy question
  • 8th Gen Honda Civic with Slavia GC and better rear suspension
  • Used Endeavour 3.2 (if it was still produced)
  • Honda City with a Reliable DSG

Octavia/Superb : With 2.0TDI Engine and AWD like offered in the Europe
Porsche Cayenne: With the V8 Diesel.
Both the above cars priced sensibly.

Re: The one car you will realistically buy, if it changed 2 - 3 things about itself

Can price be one of the 'things'? I am assuming yes and sharing my views.

My realistic first choice #1 - Fortuner 2.8 Diesel

Why? - Many reasons including power, performance, looks, reliability, it is a long list!

What would I really need changed though to make me a buyer? -

- I cannot live with those interiors, feature integration is poor and most look aftermarket
- Ride - It is way too wallowy. I know it is a body on frame, but the overall size+ride quality makes it unsuitable for my everyday usage
- And PRICE - It is just way too expensive for what it offers. I know there are dedicated threads on this topic, so wont go into any details. But there is no way I am putting down 50lacs for what it offers!

My realistic first choice #2 - XUV7OO

Why? - Again many reasons. I currently drive a first gen XUV 5OO and it is amazing to see how far Mahindra has come since then.

What would I really need changed though to make me a buyer? -

- I really really don't like what I see when I sit in the driver's seat. I know they have packed in a lot of features, but that never-ending screen, the door panel, the front console, none of these wow me. In the absence of a suitable alternative in the 30lac band, I was actively considering the XUV7OO. But the facelifted Safari is more wow! Atleast for now!

Tata Safari for me with AWD, without the illuminated T logo on steering wheel and better quality check from factory. It’s going to be a perfect vehicle for me. Even a turbo petrol with strong hybrid will fulfill my requirements. I’ll go for dark edition as it looks dope.

Re: The one car you will realistically buy, if it changed 2 - 3 things about itself

An easy one for me - The Skoda Yeti with DSG. I still have not figured out why the car, available aplenty in Europe with the auto gearbox, was never launched in India. I own the 4X4 and absolutely love it for its build quality and ride. I know Kushaq is probably a new-gen avatar with the basic purpose being the same (except for the 4X4) but still find the Yeti better anyday

Re: The one car you will realistically buy, if it changed 2 - 3 things about itself

ScorpioN or XUV7OO - Hybrid petrol engine for some respectable mileage numbers.

We are planning to upgrade from our 2013 Honda City, and the cars tick every box except the mileage aspect. Our 10 year old had 13-14kmpl when we purchased and has reduced to 10.8kmpl after TEN years. These two start at 8-9kmpl which pains my heart.

On the same line, which car would you suggest as a good replacement for the City within 20 lakhs ex-showroom? Our second car is an Ameo, so no VAG, and no KIA or Hyundai - no one in the fam finds them enticing.

Tata Nano EV
With a range of around 200Km per charge better padded seats. This would be a perfect City runabout.
Already have the Scorpio N which is a dramatic difference to the Scorpio Classic, Only thing i would like to change about that would be 360 Degree Camera given the dimensions of it and the limited parking i have to park it in.

I would buy the Tata Harrier/Safari in an instant if they solve their typical aftersales and fit and finish issues. Again this is not car specific, but Tata in general.

Second car for me would be the MG Astor. It needs an auto dimming IRVM, a more butch stance and a powerful 1.5/1.6 Turbo petrol.

Re: The one car you will realistically buy, if it changed 2 - 3 things about itself

Great thread!!

My choices would be:-

1. Toyota Fortuner-

- My younger brother’s friend got one recently and he was telling me the next gen Fortuner will be launched with hybrid tech in 2024 as per the showroom guys.

- Should get enough length to make last row really useful

- Change in suspension set up as mentioned by GTO

- Updated / competitive interiors

- Last row less claustrophobic

- Healthy pricing

- Modification potential ( recently saw a YouTube reel where someone fitted a toilet in a fortuner )

2- Toyota Innova Crysta

- Great car if third row can really be counted on- increase the length

- updated interior

- light steering

- If they make last row less claustrophobic

- a diesel hybrid ( nothing wrong in dreaming )

3 - The Estate / Combi from Skoda / or other brands

If I get

- competitive maintenance cost

- good / practical ground clearance

- Usable moderate electronics to avoid increased chances of failure ( I am happy with basic electronics, safety features and good ac )

- competitive pricing

Cheers

Re: The one car you will realistically buy, if it changed 2 - 3 things about itself

Guess I am in the minority, but for me it would be the BYD Atto3.

Would really love the addition of ventilated seats, atleast on the front. Heated seats are available in the Aus/NZ variants, why not cooled seats here.

Also, a price drop of 2-3 Lakks would do wonders for the car.

I would seriously consider this as my next car, which I am 95% sure will be an EV.
