At the rear, the updated taillights with interrupted lines. For the Octavia RS, Skoda has come up with a far more aggressive front bumper and seems to have etched an "RS" logo on the wheels. Next week's premiere will also include the Sportline trim, which sits right below the RS and serves as the Octavia's equivalent of the Golf R-Line.

Revitalising and evolving the design characteristics of our brand icons is both a demanding and fascinating task. For the Octavia’s latest update, we have reimagined the bumpers and the Škoda grille. At the same time, we have sharpened the contours of the headlights, lending our bestseller an even more striking and sporty appearance,” says the Czech carmaker’s chief designer Oliver Stefani about the look of the updated Octavia.

I'm confident this would make it to India soon/eventually. But it wont do big numbers in SUV crazy India. And Skoda won't price it well either. I'd expect L&K to reach 38-40 OTR, which would be a shame. They'll be entering Audi territory in terms of pricing.
But if this new Octi has a similar dash layout as the new Superb, it'd be almost worth it.

While I say this, I also want to remind everyone reading this: the Octavia might not have been a sales success while it was new. But used Octavias really fly off the dealers. I have been on the lookout for a decently priced MK4 Octavia L&K, and I've seen at least 7 of them being sold out before I could reach the dealer on time. Granted I've been lazy and I have only planned to visit on weekends, but its crazy out there as far as Delhi NCR and Octavias are concerned.

I hope they have the dark version too. Full black car with all wheels blacked out would look damn cool.

Not sure how many numbers it would make, but sedans do have its own charm

Revealed, the improved bestseller. The new Octavia has arrived.

Powerful engines

Under the bonnet, the updated Octavia can have one of five power units. The basic option is the 85 kW 1.5 TSI engine, which is coupled with a six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG automatic transmission. There’s also a 110 kW version of this power unit, while the version with DSG transmission is always mild-hybrid.

Higher up the range are the two-litre engines: for the all-wheel drive version, the 2.0 TSI engine with 150 kW and automatic transmission will be available, while the top RS with DSG transmission delivers 195 kW. Two 2.0 TDI diesel engines are also available: the 85 kW variant has a six-speed manual gearbox, and the 110 kW version again has a seven-speed DSG.

The most powerful production Octavia of all time:

The range-topping vRS gets the same turbocharged 2.0-litre four-pot as the new VW Golf GTI, sending 261bhp and 273lb ft through the front wheels.

The top-of-the-line RS version got rid of the plug-in hybrid version and diesel after the modernization. So far, only the petrol model with the 2.0 TSI engine, which has received 15 kilowatts more power, remains in the range. The four-cylinder engine works in the Budack cycle. This, by the way, is an evolution of the Atkinson cycle, from which it differs primarily by the use of variable intake valve timing, which switches between the Budack and Otto cycles, or between the Atkinson and Otto cycles. The second difference is the fact that the compression is not shortened by delayed closing of the intake valve, but by closing it earlier.

Unlike in the past, the manual will no longer be available, so a seven-speed dual-clutch is the only option. Compared to the regular Octavia, the RS is 15 mm closer to the ground, and there is also an electro-hydraulically controlled VAQ differential lock. A new feature is the original sports exhaust system with black tailpipes.

The Škoda Octavia RS will be able to boast matrix headlights, 18-inch wheels, a multimedia system with a thirteen-inch screen and sports seats as standard.

Good refresh for the infotainment and I can see an option of 3-zone climate control. Front lights seemed to have taken a lot of inspiration from the 3-series.

I think as an owner of the pre-facelift Octavia A8, I haven't lost much
