Been there done that! Virtus!
A fantastic city rider and a highway cruiser. Can’t talk about the engine and transmission cos you get that in so four choices. But it’s the turning back to look you car feature that is very apparent on the Virtus. To me Slavia looks boring competitively.
But remember to get that in carbon grey with blacked out alloys and the end result is

Re: Which 2.0 car from VW/Škoda would you choose?

My Vote goes to VW Virtus-

After driving Vento (and still holding) for 13 yrs and after buying Superb while was all the time dreaming of Jetta, Virtus seems to be logical choice for me. Though the trims has bit of crisscross colours to my liking as I always loved simple lines of VW , I would pick Virtus today. Secondly keeping brand loyalty aside VW offers lovely engines which are fun to drive at the same time gives wonderful mileage. And yes better safety too.

Cross overs are no go for me. It is compromised boot/ Cabin space as well as driving pleasure for slightly higher seating.

Re: Which 2.0 car from VW/Škoda would you choose?

Since I already own a luxury SUV, if I wanted a second car (and one restricted to the above four choices), I’d pick one of the sedans rather than the crossovers. They’ll offer great boot space, much better back seat comfort I assume over their crossover counterparts and hopefully a better comfort as well thanks to being a bit lower (less pitching / body roll).

I’ve never closely followed the Slavia vs Virtus comparisons so don’t know off the bat which feels nicer. Whichever ones feel classier inside as well as out spec for spec and finish wise. Personally from the external images at least I prefer the overall look and silhouette of the Virtus. But I’ve seen some garish interiors on it though so if they’ve got a high end variant without the loud colors, that would be my pick. Engine wise, I’d pick the 1.5 DSG. My running is low enough to accept the lower FE and as a two car garage, I am ok to take some down time chances with the DSG.

Re: Which 2.0 car from VW/Škoda would you choose?

If I could ever get myself to buy a VW or Skoda car (highly doubtful), my pick would be the Slavia 1.5 DSG in red.

I personally felt that the Slavia was the best looking of the lot, absolutely banging looker. It still turns my head when I see it on the road. And that 1.5 TSI engine is the sweetest.

Re: Which 2.0 car from VW/Škoda would you choose?

Skoda's 2.0 cars are good , however they are a great let down in terms of design. The kushaq and taigun twins look to small , whereas the slavia and the virtus have way too much GC for a sedan and too many cuts and creases. Although the Virtus looks the best in this bunch.

How has the DCT reliability been since these cars launched, Can any owners add on?

Re: Which 2.0 car from VW/Škoda would you choose?

If going by what the heart wants, I'd gone with a Black Virtus 1.5 Manual. However, for me a more practical choice is what I voted for - The Kushaq.

Given the extra clearance, better ingress/egress for parents and a slightly perched cockpit view, a C-SUV makes for a better proposition. And between the Taigun & Kushaq, the Kushaq IMO looks sharper and sportier. Also, these C-SUVs have better handling than competition, meaning someone can put down all those horses VW claim of producing. Also, I'd rate Skoda service experience to be far superior to VW. I maybe a minority in this regard, but having owned 2 Skodas and a VW, I can vouch for it.

Re: Which 2.0 car from VW/Škoda would you choose?

A Kushaq Monte Carlo would have been my shortlist but I felt it was overpriced. Am certainly glad I sold the Jetta as the saloons offer everything except the multilink suspension and solid build.

Having owned 4+ VAG cars, these did not make my shortlist for the following reasons

1: Expensive
2: Build quality does not reflect the premium
3: The niggles
4: The rear end of the sedans are a bit "pear-shaped"

Among the poll choices, VW Virtus 1.5GT TSI would be my choice.

This car looks like a true German- Timeless, stylish, classy and fast. Dare I say, it even look close to BMWish in design.

But when i put other sedan brand in comparison, then it may not be my choice due to obvious fears.

Re: Which 2.0 car from VW/Škoda would you choose?

Since I can’t vote officially on the poll yet, my vote in terms of looks shall solely go towards the Virtus. The polo-esque front fascia is ageless and charming to look at. It really gives vibes to drive it long and everywhere. It’s a let down in terms of the interiors which are really bland. Wish they fix this and we have the really perfect sedan on sale. My pick would be the 1.5MT.

Re: Which 2.0 car from VW/Škoda would you choose?

I always liked the Virtus 1.5L and the introduction of Manual gearbox last year just sealed the deal for me. Infact, had considered all 4 last year of course due to their performance but just couldn’t convince my dad to even visit their respective dealerships let alone a TD.

While the Taigun and Kushaq look good with good engines, my option is unavailable. I wouldn't take a risk with VW or Skoda.

Re: Which 2.0 car from VW/Škoda would you choose?

I voted for the VW Virtus & I wanted to buy the GT version but they didn't have the manual option then. Hence, I bought the Skoda Slavia 1.5 TSI manual.

Re: Which 2.0 car from VW/Škoda would you choose?

My take would be to wait for the facelifts to correct the niggles and rattles, then go for a Kushaq Monte Carlo (or better yet, a Slavia Monte Carlo). Assuming that the facelift doesn't kill the 1.5 TSI in manual.

As much respect I have for the VW group, ownership horror stories will always give me second thoughts on any purchase. But as it's panning out, my EcoSport would eventually need a replacement a couple of years down.

Voted for the Slavia.

Virtus looks sporty and young and fast especially the 1.5 version with dark interiors, black rims and such whereas Slavia looks elegant, graceful and classic.

Truth be told you cant go wrong with either of these cars. It all comes down to personal preference.

Re: Which 2.0 car from VW/Škoda would you choose?

We usually opt for Honda Citys for daily driving, but if I were to choose a VW 2.0 car, it would be a Kushaq Monte Carlo in white. It appears the most stylish among the four and I feel it will be an ideal city runabout with sufficient power for those occasional spirited drives.

Yet, in all honesty, whenever I've experienced a 2.0 VWAG car, it doesn't seem as sturdy and polished as my Octavia. It might not be a perfect analogy, but they feel like vegan gelatos compared to the genuine creamy goodness.
