Re: Which 2.0 car from VW/Škoda would you choose? My vote went to VW Virtus.
I had the opportunity to drive both VW Virtus and Skoda Slavia in their 1.0 AT and 1.5 DSG avatars within a week of each other.
I found more likes for Virtus compared to Slavia.
Even after ₹2+ lakh discounts available on Kushaq 1.5 DSG and Taigun 1.5 DSG, these 2.0 SUVs still did not tug my heart as much as their sedans do.
I saw Kushaq Sportline and Taigun GT Sport in the showroom. Taigun GT Sport looks much better than Kushaq. Likes for Virtus GT:
- Better looking interior that feels sporty.
- The red accents and red instrument cluster looks good (not overdose of red).
- Black alloys make the exterior look better in all color combinations.
- Infotainment is integrated well in the dashboard. I am not a fan of new infotainments where it sticks out of the dashboard like an aftermarket accessory.
- 3 spoke steering wheel.
- Buttons on the steering felt in place similar to the setup of my Polo GT.
- Ventilated seat button location.
- Looks like an evolution of Jetta.
- Simple, elegant and timeless front and rear fascia.
- No chrome elements present in new Sport variants.
- Deep black pearl all black look in GT Sport will look awesome. Dislikes for Virtus:
- No option to get lighter colored interior in 1.5 DSG variant.
- All black interiors (black seats and black roof liner) make the cabin feel smaller in GT Plus variants. I am told that GTLine gets light colored roof liner, but the GTLine is not a GT as it gets the same 1.0 TC AT. Likes for Slavia:
- Tornado Red (the red shade which I like from VW cars) and Crystal Blue colors (new unique shade of blue).
- Dual tone lighter colored interior available in 1.5 DSG combination.
- New Sportline trim gets 1.5 DSG with sunroof (for those who want a sunroof and DSG combination).
- Blacked exterior elements make the Sportline look good.
- Looks like evolution of Octavia (in smaller form).
- You get a small storage box on lower right side of the steering. Dislikes for Slavia:
- Big front grille is not for my liking.
- 2 spoke steering wheel. I am still old school guy who likes 3 spoke steering wheels.
- Hanging infotainment unit. It looks like it was stuck on the dashboard as an accessory.
