There is a post on PalioUser Group from a new dealer in New Delhi or about there. He confirms the launch in April.
One of my friend is working in FIAT Ranjangaon plant. As per the grapewine GP will be on roads by April..
one of the pics has a 1.4 on the rear windsheild
This is mouthwatering stuff, interiors are quite good. Not sure if the timing of FIAL launch of the Indian GP is correct, with a facelift coming next year:eek:.
lol. it has not been launched in India and a facelift is on the cards as well!
Amazing.

Not sure this is really a Face Lift. Looks like one of those test mules. They could be testing the next generation Super Fire and Multijet 2 Engines.stupid:
Hard to ignore stuff. Esp with that juicy MJD inside. Any MJD above 1.4 makes this my next buy. This urge of driving a Fiat diesel is getting worse now... Need to scratch myself! :-)
Hi Friends,
I was successful in catching the gimps of Fiat Punto.
Its Near Fiat Plant - Ranjangaon.
I am unable to upload the Snaps...
does not the punto look like the new indica vista ???
at least with the coverings it looks like that.. maybe without that it may look different !!
Its quite funny that we are all waiting with bated breath for the launch of GP, a model which was launched 5 yrs ago internationally and to top that there already is an upgrade coming up on this model in other countries !

are u saying we will get a 5 year old model - i thought it will be in line with latest GP being sold in europe, etc
The point i wanted to make was, it was launched in 2005 internationally, but we still don't have it in India for whatever reason we know about Fiat. We might get the lastest model being sold, but 5 years is too much a time..!

I had a talk with Mangesh and he is dead sure that the Punto will come with the same engine thats there in the Swift diesel. This is a big let down as FIAT has an excellent 1.6jtd engine for the Punto and below is the link for it. I begged and pleaded with them to put this engine into the punto but he claimed that on asking the car buying public across India the consensus was to use the same engine as used in the Swift diesel. There goes my plans for a good diesel and now I am hoping the i20 comes with the verna's diesel engine. I had written to the FIAT management to have 4 models of the Punto
1)1.4 petrol base version.
2)1.4 TurboFSI engine with full options.
3)1.3jtd base version.
4)1.6jtd full options model.
Ford company listened to a few of our advices when they released the Ikon years ago in Petrol and diesel versions and it served that company well. I really wonder who advices FIAT on the engines for their cars. I am still praying they put in the 1.6 JTD in the new Punto.
