+1 to that. Since they will be sold from the same showroom, Tata would ensure that the GP doesnt cannibalise the Vista's sales.

xylo is like ghar ki daal, who claims to be chicken. all of us bash it because it is not chicken (read innova, or a sedan).
but all of us know that we will go home and eat ghar ki daal and sleep, due to our budge constraints.
its time that our ghar ki daal gets over the identity crisis.

In the first picture posted by Tushky the GP looks HUGE. Maybe it's the angle but going by Linea dimensions which is based on the Punto, it's safe to assume that the car will give that big car feel. Grande Punto is definately on my radar. I just hope Fiat gives it a 1.6L MJD and 1.4L T-Jet petrol engines with a 6 speed M/T by 2010.

Please Fiat, please come out with a performance variant in the Grande Punto.

My wishist: Grande Punto Emotion+ 1.6L 120bhp MJD 6 speed M/T and 1.4L T-JET 150bhp 6 speed M/T. Side skirts with bumper spoilers, 16 or 17 inch alloys, sunroof, leather interiors with red stitching on steering and gear knob. Willing to pay Linea MJD Emotion variant prices for it.

By the way, Punto is a fantastic hatch and is the only genuine competitor to VW hatches (synonymous to Maruti 800/Altos in India) in Switzerland (don't know about the rest of EU).

If I am right that is Australian version, I have a pdf file of the same brochure.
1.3 MJD 90 bhp comes with 6 speed gearbox there.

Will the Indian Punto come with 6 speed? No one will be complaining I guess :)

My above wish list remains. If Fiat gives us the car with the above features, I'll buy it without blinking! And I'll take one in red :).

I Have been holding up for a Hot hatch since a few years actually. Fiat messed up with 1.6 bit time. bad gearshift and taller suspension killed the otherwise good car.

Now I am waiting for something better. Hope the companies address this niche market while churning out Fuel efficient cars. I hope Fiat gives a good engine atleast as an option on this one.

There is a point. If Fiat can bring Punto with the same trim levels as Linea, I think it will have the best interiors among the hatches. And being less than 4m in length, it will get the tax concessions too. I hope Punto will be the best VFM in its segment.
