Re: NGT rejects SPG plea to extend life of 3 Prime Minister’s vehicles

Conspiracy theory ahead!

The NGT, IMO, are heavily influenced by the automobile lobbyists. I don't think anywhere else in the world we have such a draconian rule to ban vehicles after a certain number of years. This only benefits the car manufacturers and the associated industries who IMO are the source of this nonsense.

Considering all this, I'm not at all surprised that they prevented them from using barely used machinery for 5 more years - somebody wants to make money by selling equipment to the govt which is run by tax payer money

Totally! Now the lawmakers and bureaucrats can proudly announce how indipendent NGT is - they didn't even spare our own PM's vehicle.

Re: NGT rejects SPG plea to extend life of 3 Prime Minister’s vehicles

These are BS-III vehicles, hence no chance of extension as per the Honbl. SC as well.

NGT does not have the power to circumvent this. Judgement here:

Re: NGT rejects SPG plea to extend life of 3 Prime Minister’s vehicles

In my mind, the only questions that arise after reading this news is -

1. What kind of cars are these? Armored Scorpios and Safaris?
2. What will they do with these cars now? Is there a way I can purchase them from the govt?

Govt is banning diesel cars for good reason. I think the new cars govt buy should be hybrid so that they can be used for longer than 10-15 years easily. Its ok, out with the old and in with the new.

A lot of posts/comments talk about what a waste it is to let go of almost new cars that have not run a lot.

My question to each one of you is - how many people on this forum sell off almost new 3-4 year old cars and purchase new ones as soon as a new model is launched? MANY.

There are several threads where people are upgrading within 3 years of car purchase. In the "hot threads" section three threads below this thread is a thread named "need help replacing '23 Taigun"

Therefore, I am going to repeat my "takiya kalam" for today - "dil pe mat le yaar". Its ok.

Re: NGT rejects SPG plea to extend life of 3 Prime Minister’s vehicles

We are being forced much against our will to use tax payers money to splurge on 3 new cars which may be similarly under utilised.

1. I believe it is the armoured Renault Sherpa in the question going by the court order as posted above.
2. I'd like to know too

I just need to know how this ruling still stands¿ What I know is all the judgements are superceded by an act of parliament. So how these NGT and SC orders are still being followed when parliament has already brought MVA 2019 and specifically mentioned the age of the vehicles.

Is there anything which I am missing?

Re: NGT rejects SPG plea to extend life of 3 Prime Minister’s vehicles

Which cop/RTO officer/govt babu will have the gall to stop these vehicles, even if they continue to run as part of the PM's convoy or deployed for his security anywhere in the country? Much ado over nothing.

Also, if the question was about scrapping the luxury vehicles used for travel by the PM and his staff, then it could have been said that this media circus is a ploy to procure new vehicles at the taxpayers' expense etc etc; however since this is concerned with armoured vehicles (almost like tanks!), this NGT ruling seems to be that of an overly-righteous judge, without any semblance of practicality! The govt is sure to get this overturned, if they approach the Supreme Court.

Haha, Armoured Vehicle; Bangaloreans must be very interested in it to avoid auto vandalism.

If all else, these will be moved to a less compliant state or donated to another country

Someone posted photos of these 3 vehicles on previous page. These are heavy armoured vehicles for SPG.

That's a welcome move by NGT
Please also advocate for battery-operated, rechargeable fighters, bombers, aircraft carriers, and battle tanks, among others.
Hoping to hear of eco-friendly surgical strikes in the near future.

At last, glad to see the law (SC order) being applied uniformly. However, it's again burden on us. Citing NGT order, SPG will requisition new vehicles billed out of tax payers money.
This is just a media co op to show us rules are equal for everyone, which is complete bs

You fell into their trap
