3) Isuzu Vcross (India) 1.9L has 360Nm @ 2000 - 2500rpm

4) Isuzu Vcross (India) 2.5L 4JK1 engine has 320Nm @ 1800 - 2800rpm, the one which I had.

1) Like I said, the Hilux is 6-7 Lakhs more expensive too, so not a fair comparison.

2) Don't really care about an engine we don't get, and won't get, atleast not at a sensible price

3) my source provides different numbers https://www.cardekho.com/isuzu/d-max...019-2021/specs

4) And I know this is nitpicking, but in what world is 320 Nm of Torque inadequate?

EDIT: The 3.0 V-cross is more expensive than the 2.8 Hilux in Thailand. (both diesel AT 4x4 specs listed for fairness)

Pretty sure Isuzu can launch it, just that people will then complain about how expensive it is for an Isuzu.

All the engine specs, which I have quoted previously were taken from official Isuzu websites only. I think its better to rely on them instead of others.

Looks like you are not familiar with the concept of "Bottom End Torque", otherwise you wouldn't have asked this question.

The availability of bottom end torque, which covers the 1000-1800 RPM band is always advantageous for a pickup, which unfortunately is not the case with Indian 2.5L Vcross 4JK1 engine. Its peak torque figure ranges from 1800 to 2800 RPM only, which is advantageous only for highway cruising, but climbing inclines in traffic or loaded situation, this vehicle miserably fails. The torque availability of 2.5L Vcross is very poor in 1000-1800 RPM band.

Let alone the Toyota Hilux, even Bolero Camper beats the Vcross in this regard, when it comes to the bottom end torque performance.

BTW: Have you ever owned a pickup ?

This is the Australian update announcement... Other than the 3L engine, can someone please see what's not in the Indian one?

Too much for the Isuzu as the person can increase his budget and can buy a Hilux as Toyota is providing massive discounts. Secondly, a 4X4 with an open diff is said to be a pseudo off-roader, so no one wants to hear that comment after investing 30 lakhs.

Agreed. Realised the importance of the bottom end torque during my recent drive to Ooty in the Safari Storme. Before that had never felt the need of better torque distribution. In and around Ooty at least on a couple of occasions with 5 people and some luggage could only manage to get the Storme to climb up after burning some clutch.

While I believe it's much more required for the pick-ups as more often than not they would be carrying much heavier loads but in general all the heavy (ladder frame) SUV's should have a good bottom end torque to be able to better negotiate the hills.

Cheers,
M

It’s the update that Philippines got back in 2019, same front bumper guard, blacked out front end and interior. Here’s a link to the review,
