They have designed it beautifully, but I want a reliable machine and not a rugged suite to wait in while stranded on the roadside.

All I ask is that M&M gives their 100% in regard to the quality of each unit being produced. Only then will it win hearts without any setbacks. They have come so far, a little focus on the overall quality would be the final missing piece that they need.

I am well aware that Scorpio-N is B-O-F vehicle. What I meant with unibody was that body bolted on frame is entirely made of metal whereas in Thar it is half metal and half plastic/canvas. Thar ROXX will follow Scorpio-N ideology of having full metal body bolted on frame and won't have an option of soft-top or hard-top.

My assumptions are grounded in several key factors, including current macroeconomic conditions, the recent price reduction of the XUV700, and the competitive landscape of the segment THAR ROXX competes. One could say that THAR has its own segment - Yes, The 3 Door has it but not the 5 door.

The XUV700 AX7 D AT is priced at ₹21.59 lakhs, while the Scorpio N Z8 D AT costs ₹20.83 lakhs. Given these figures, positioning the THAR ROXX against its own siblings at these price points seems impractical.

Therefore, I strongly believe that the THAR ROXX should be targeted more directly at competitors like the Hyundai Creta.

And we shall see how wrong my assumptions are in a week!

As GTO has said this many times in the past and which is 100% true for Maruti, it is better to cannibalize own siblings that fill in coffers of a competitor. Mahindra may not mind selling a few less ScorpioNs or XUVs as long as they money is flowing into their account.

What I meant is your assumption of no-ADAS is wrong. Mahindra Thar Roxx will get Ventilated Seats, ADAS, Harman Kardon Audio.

And yes, we will soon know the prices!

Folks, been reading through this thread and see lot of messages around what is the target audience for Mahindra and if the interior design is as part the offroad use case of the car. Sharing my perception on the same.

Looking at overall SUV sales the ones who actually off road are probably less than 1% of the buyers. Within a niche product like Thar itself, 90%+ are urban users who want it for the image and not the off roading capability. With Roxx i feel Mahindra certainly has another winner product at hand, and they aren't really going after the offroad use case but more trying to satisfy urban users who want Thar image with practicality for family. In summary

• XUV700 - Those who want a polished monocoque SUV with no intention of abuse or rough use

• ScorpioN - Comfortable bof SUV for those who want butch image as well and might need more abuse friendly car

• Thar 3 door - Urban users who can afford a 2nd car or single or early yrs of marriage, off roaders also will want this version

• Thar 5 door - Urban users who want that Jeep as only car and have a family too, off roaders may not prefer this

It feels like the 5 door Thar (you can't pay me in Evos to call it the ROXX) is supposed to be the more luxurious one, aimed at families. IMO, I think it was a good move to not call it the Armada - You don't want your fresh, new jeep to have connections to a fugly, outdated - when - launched MPV SUV thing.

Which would be more off-road friendly- Thar 5 Door or Scorpio N? Asking it purely from the offroading perspective - no other features involved.

Yet to see specifics of Thar 5D, but I would put my money on it than ScorpioN. 4x4 hardware may be similar but Thar will have more ground clearance, more suspension articulation, scope for snow chains etc.

As an owner of top end Scorpio for 12 years, my comments on the Mahindra design team whose motto is “if you cannot convince, confuse the customers “.

1. I think Mahindra need to relook into their portfolio of cars and space them to various use cases and not overlap and create confusion.

2. I was sad when XUV5OO was retired. Why? Is it because it doesn't make sense when XUV 7OO is released? What happens to the fans of XUV 5OO? Will they bring back XUV5OO in future?

3. We all know the fan following of name Scorpio brand. They were selling the car in its old avatar for decades and people would still buy them even today in its old avatar. Mahindra wants to milk this brand name purely from commercial side. They may even retire the brand like XUV5OO one day leaving all the fans in shock if the numbers are not selling.

4. Mahindra should clearly make a differentiation and manufacture BOF or Monocoque vehicles and space the various models decently without creating confusion to even enthusiasts like us.

5. Mahindra is creating confusion with 4X4 and RWD name tag across their portfolio and milk the gullible customers. To add to this confusion, they created another functionality called AWD in XUV 7OO. If one asks the marketing personnel, which is the best most agile off road vehicle of Mahindra in Indian conditions, they have no clue. It is upto the decision of any individual.

6. I see no future for Thar 3 door after the 5 door is released. I will not be surprised if they retire the 3 door which has an iconic brand following fans if the numbers donot meet their expectations. It’s all business.
