Re: Indigo Airlines sues Mahindra for its BE 6e model name EDIT: Mahindra renames it to BE 6!

Good decision by mahindra, the name 'BE 6' sounds way better than 'BE 6e'. Another good decision is that they will continue to contest the trademark infringement case filed by indigo.

Many members are talking about a similar case between tata motors and Indigo with respect to the trademark 'Indigo', since there is no update with respect to the said case from both the sides which was filed way back in 2015, it may be safe to conclude that both the parties have entered into an amicable settlement. In anycase, tata motors 'indigo' was not a high selling car model and it is safe to presume that the trademark case stands settled.

All Mahindra and Indigo have to do is to have a "nine"teenth hole than drag this to courtrooms.

Excuse me, what!!!

The Indigo Manza maybe, the Indigo eCS was a segment pioneer but too old when launched.

But the original Indigo was a pretty good seller in the 2000s IIRC.

Naming an automobile is an important aspect for its success. There are products that may fail just due to a terrible name. It should be memorable, inspiring, personable and ideally have an emotional connect with the target audience.

BE 6, BE 6E, BE 9E are the worst names IMHO.

IMO Swift, Creta, Seltos, Splendor, Pulsar, Apache, Thar, Bullet, Himalayan are excellent names.

Or if they could define a class such as BMW, Audi, Merc it is even better. But they should define their class or levels. Then letters and numbers might make sense. Example in M340i, M denotes sporty, 3 denotes something with the size etc.

Ideally the letter should come before the number first M3, M4, C300, BMW i3. Even BE E6 and BE E9 sounds better.

Hahaha … On a lighter note, I think if they are faced with another legal battle over model nomenclature, they may just finally rename it to:
