At launch, the 2.4 MT was adequate with 5 gears given the AT option. He told it was too late to add a 6 speed manual. He agrees that the 6 speed should have come during the BS6 2020 update.

How much does the 6 speed cost over the 5 speed
Its only 50-60k for the extra gear
If it had a 6 speed manual, it would have been the perfect highway cruiser. Not late, Toyota could easily give it the 6 speed. The BS4 Touring Sport had the 6 speed manual for a short time. The ARAI mileage would easily jump 1-2 km/l. TKM just wants to squeeze the ancient 5 speed till possible.

Yep, me too was expecting the 6 speed at the BS6 transition.

Slightly off topic, I have booked the Innova Crysta for a week for sightseeing around Wayanad (Kerala). Now having read reviews I am in a two minds as people have commented on massive body roll, etc. My wife and kids both suffer from travelling sickness. Innova Crysta was booked only thinking of comfort in mind, but I think on the hills this car is only going to make things worse. Should I go for a sedan rather?

If it is something like a Ciaz or Corolla, then okay.

But if the sedan arranged by the taxi companies is a Dzire, Aura or Amaze type, you are better off with the Crysta. Haven't heard of anyone getting motion sickness in an Innova unless the driver is super rash one.

Check out Toyota India’s latest kit on the Crysta, called the “Rugged Kit”. Those plastic wheelarch claddings on the fenders looks so out of place on an MPV
This trend of killing their own cars with so called visual modifications is absolutely ridiculous and I'm surprised Toyota India isn't immune to this!

Should Toyota discontinue may be Yes, will they? Probably no. Crysta brings in volumes, the assembly line shared between Fortuner Crysta and Hycross will be underutilized, there probably isn't enough supply of hybrid units to cater the demand.

That said Toyota is known to take surprising decisions, I never thought they would continue selling Crysta once Hycross was launched. They need something in price band of 25-35L and with Crysta gone, the Petrol only Hycross probably won't suffice.
