Does anyone know whether Tata motors actually transfers the warranty to the second owner or not since this is what I read in one of Tata car's manual.

"This warranty shall stand
terminated if the car is transferred
or otherwise alienated by the buyer
without our prior written consent."

Does this mean it can be transferred but only with the consent of Tata Motors?Has anyone come across such a case?

That's what I wanted to know.I mean how to go about getting this "prior written consent" from Tata Motors for getting the warranty transferred.

Transfer of warranty with Honda is easy.

There is a transfer of ownership slip in the warranty book (or is that the service book...) that you fill up and send to Honda. That's all, warranty transferred. They provide enough slips for some 5 or 8 warranty transfers.

Any idea about maruti? Recently when my cousin bought alto and opted not to take extended warranty, sales guy tried pushing it saying car resale is gonna be higher. Saw a flier mentioning the same too.
If warranty doesn't get transferred, how will be resale be higher?

In the US, when I bought my Civic second hand, I did not have to go though this procedure. Nevertheless, the car was still covered under warranty(even after 7 years) and the following parts were changed free of cost:

1. Exhaust Manifold
2. Both Driver and Passenger side seatbealts as I had complained about slackeness in them.

But yes, I agree. That was in the US and this is India.

Hyundai allows the extended warranty to be transferred to the second owner.

Have got power window assembly replaced under warranty in my Getz which I purchased second hand.

The service centre guys also told me that I can get the warranty extended to fourth and fifth year also by paying the premium before the 3 year extended warranty expires.

Thinking of going in for the 4 year comprehensive extended warranty which will be costing nearly 10k. Hope its worth the investment
