Newbie. Can't vote yet. But my decision to replace my 2016 Ertiga with 2024 Facelift Alcazar was 70% influenced by Team-BHP (Mix od reading Pre-Facelift Alcazar review, ownership experience and other experiences around owning a Hyundai), remaining was YouTube reviews from folks such as AutoYogi, Gagan Choudhary + Hyundai Ownership experience from friends and families.

Majorly my own feel of the car + the brand experience with service and maintenance. Today, I would never go for a Tata or Mahindra but easily go for a properly owned Ford/Maruti diesel.

1. Shortlisting vehicles based on my requirement
2. Getting word of mouth feedback from real world owners
3. Reading ownership reviews here, given they are unbiased

For my next purchase, hopefully an EV, the 1st factor will be ease of charging in my building!

Not able to vote, so listing the points here

1. Based on my requirements i usually compare the specs and take Test Drives
2. Reading TBHP reviews and Ownership reviews on the web/YT
3. The decision of the family is extremely important given that they have some specific requirements to be met
4. Last but not the least, look around on the road as to how many vehicles you see and the possibility of talking to owners if possible on their experiences.

For me, looks and safety drives me towards a car.

After that, it's just the test drives. I don't care about word of mouth or brand image.

Coming to reviews, I totally abhor YouTube reviews and social media reviews. Most of them don't know what they are talking about.

One test drive is worth a hundred YouTube reviews.

I rarely think it is just one option that influences a major car buying decision. The voting options should have beem multi-select, not a single one. Even if one of them might have a major influence, there will usually be other options which can change the decision. So multi-select voting would have been good

1. Customer service - While buying the i10 Nios for my wife, the kind of showroom experience Hyundai provided was excellent. Made us feel like we were buying a creta. Just for their hospitality i bought their extended warranty, SOT and accessories pack. Even in BMW (Varsha Autohaus Mangalore), their service and sales team are excellent. They make me feel special, and are very honest about their engines and performance.

I use YouTube reviews only to "see" what the interior, exterior, space and features of the car look like. I feel every car manufacturer has kind of adopted a car reviewer each to good mouth for them.

The main factors for me in general are:
- Reputation of service centre near me.
- Mechanical reliability.
- Driving feel.
- Cost of maintenance.
- Opinion of an independent mechanic.

I have voted for 'Reading review on TBhp', this includes ownership reviews too.

For me, buying a car starts with two things—what I like and what I can afford. The biggest influence? Me. I know exactly what I want, down to the brand and model. While I do take suggestions from family, the final call always aligns with what I had already decided.

Five cars in, and no regrets. Everyone has loved my choices so far, and over time, I’ve naturally become the go-to consultant for friends and family when it comes to automobiles and tech.

I don’t read reviews to shape my decision—I read them to validate it. YouTube videos? Strictly to see the car from all angles, and funnily enough, I usually watch them after booking rather than before. And since I’m the one driving it, I never book a car without an extensive test drive.

It might sound a little self-centered, but when it comes to wheels and tech, I trust one influencer—myself. I clearly know my check points.

For me, the most important decision to buying anything I own is to feel happy in/with it whether it be appliances or clothes.

I am yet to buy my first car, but I have a pretty good idea of what I would buy.

Review from auto blogs & team bhp, is the top reason for me. In reality buying a new car does have a combination of several factors. Back in March 2020, I visited a Kia showroom to book the Seltos. However, the treatment they gave me changed my mind. I literally walked to the Hyundai Showroom that was situated opposite and booked Creta. Incidentally, it was just a day before the launch of the updated version, by then.

Once upon a time, I used to decide heavily based on T-BHP reviews as they were closely aligned to what i look at in a car. I especially remember the days, when T BHP members would give their own cars for reviews. The T BHP review would come out the last, but was awesome. But lately, the reviews feel rushed and the generic template based reviews do not really inspire confidence unlike the old time detailed ones.

Today, I buy cars, either as per choice of the user, be it my wife or my father etc. If i am buying for me, I buy a car based on my own inspection (Static and Dynamic) based on my automotive background. Nothing else, come close.

3. engine power
4. interior fit and finish
5. cost of ownership (not a deal breaker since I usually keep my cars for 5-6 years and mostly do 5K kms a year)
