Guys ended up driving the i10 yesterday, good looking car, definately a head turner, more zip than the Santro for sure, more space than the santro again, taller tyres, I actually parked it along side a Santro, definately seems longer by atleast 5-6 inches. I had it with me for a while in the morning and lots of morning walker kept on flocking it, If I was a Hyundai salesman I think I would have sold atleast 5-6 of them in half an hour.

looks better but slightly smaller than santro..
but its roomy from inside..
gears are smooth.. (i didn't take td)

but.. that's it.. not enough to categorize as a premium hatch.. not good enough to make a swift buyer confused.

still i feel it may be a hit, drawing customers from zen/wagon-R and from chevy spark..

I beg to differ here. Car is having waiting period of 4-6 weeks. TD cars are only available in few citys. Top end Sunroof model is not available on display as well. I think it's going with good speed. If Hyundai don't get in to delivery issues, we will able to see good nos. on sales charts.
I hear lot of discussion going on i10 around IT and non IT offices. Many people like the look and feel as well. I am bit disappointed as AT is still not launched but else car is doing great.

Hi @ himi.
I have just got my ERA(i10) 4 days back....its awesome...
You must be feeling the buzz going down because...the festive season has just ended and the car is having a waiting period at many places of 2-4 weeks.
Also many people are waiting for 2007 to end so that they can take up the 2008 model
How hot has the booking of the car been....just go to any damn dealer and check out yourself....
When i went to take delivery of my car, i saw 2 bookings being done within a span of an hour.

hYUNDAI is doing a real good job- posting one car in each segment. Now that's a good strategy to take over the Indian car market. But the Santro was already doing good in the segment. Let's see the result.

The same EcoT had earlier posted the words of a Hyundai Head Honcho marking out the possibilities of the launch of a CRDi for the i10 immediately. Even after a reasonably good bookings I guess even late 2008 will be "immediately" for Hyundai...
Journos, some get impossible. But, today's Indian Auto Scene is ultra competitive and whi knows Hyundai may spring up a surprise like they did with the Getz CRDi...

Isn't it the time we change the name of the thread to I10 - now launched instead of keeping it Pa.

Love the CRDi engine from Hyundai, and eagerly waiting for a small car with one such great engine! BUT

Surprise is that launch was only for metros, three cars per dealer, with a stratospheric price tag and no TD cars even in metros.

Hope i10 CRDi's case is better. Any idea what diesel option they are going to plonk in? 1.1 CRDi?

ET talks of a higher spec engine in the AT version. I doubt that would happen since AT by itself would jack up prices significantly.

Initial reaction to the i10 seems to be good, if not great. They should play their trump card by introducing the CRDi version soon.
