Delay in getting the RC book for a new car in Pune?

It's kind-of pathetic that these delays take place! I was recently informed that the Pune RTO's daily "take" is around Rs. 1 crore. Clearly, money is not the issue...it's just our system's inefficiency and chalta hai attitude.

Is the RTO in Pune still slow in delivering RC books? I purchased my car 2.5 months ago. Have been following up with the dealer since 1 month. They claim that they finally received it yesterday.

Yes, things have improved from before(3+ months in 2003-2005) but its still takes close to a month if not more to get RC.

Seems like my dealer might be playing games with me then since it took them 2.5 months! Seeing how bad their communication has been it wouldn't surprise me if my RC book was laying around somewhere for a while.

That's strange! Here in Mumbai, the cars RC book comes in 15 days flat. On the other hand, my bike's RC book took more than a month :(

Not really I got my Apache RTR's RC after 3 months last year, my cousin got his in 2 months. Another friend somehow got it in 15 days. So it all depends.

just to revive this thread, I have the number and all other docs. However, it seems the RC will still take about 2 months and will directly come to my address. In the meantime, what documents do I need to carry in case cops ask for it? The tax challan, invoice copy?
