Yes and also the JLR figures will not be added hopefully in 2008!! So, Toyota should take no 1 postion.

JLR belonged to Ford, so that would not make a difference to GM sales anyway.

By some industry estimates because of the way sales are counted, Toyota is nearer to GM than seems. This is because GM usually reports sales when the product leaves the factory which may be `sale to dealer' or channel stuffing, and not like Toyota which reports sales when `sale to customer' is made.

Eitherways, GM sales (if in the US) are more than 300K units as compared to Toyota.

Fortuner is getting ready for the Assembly line and is scheduled to be launched with the New Corolla. The current schedule for launch is Aug-Sep-Oct 2008. Fortuner would be priced marginally higher than CRV.

Yes I too heard same news from trusted source. Fortuner will be launched by this year end with small volummes since it won't be manufactured here like Camry. and price bracket might be above 16 lacs. This is the reason why I baught Innova last year and plan to buy Safari next year after Fortuner launch!

As of now no plan to launch new Innova because toyota concentrate on new Corolla(Petrol and Diesel), Fortuner, small cars. In 2010 we can expect something cross between Quallis/Innova/Fortuner in 8+ lac price bracket.

Till then every year we can see new features being added to Innova.

Regards,

Ravi.

But we seem to have some reason to rejoice. Another coveted SUV is scheduled to be launched this year. The Mitsubishi Outlander is on the way.
