auto headlamp adjuster ..I believe it automatically adjusts the brightness of the headlamp by sensing the darkness (or ambient light) ...and not mandatory as per Euro III..

it's headlamp leveling and not power

What is Head Lamp Leveling (HLL)? Why is it required?
Alignment of head lamps is done without considering any load on the car. When people sit inside the car, the load on the car increases and as a result the beam of the car tends to goes up. To neutralize that effect leveling mechanism is to be provided in the cars. HLL is a mandatory regulation which will be enforced from April 2005 in all categories of cars.

G

2. How can the driver use HLL in Maruti cars?
The driver will have a switch which will be able to adjust the beam in 4 levels depending on the load in the car. There is a motor in the headlamp, which will be controlled by the switch.

If they give the ABS controller separate you could fit it on the existing models. But doubt they will sell it right now. Maybe in a few months. Have to see how good the ABS actually is.

Great news, but I'm sure there'll be a massive price hike which is sure to blunt sales of this model. But still, good start by Maruti.

I think Marui will charge a premium of abt 20-25k for the Airbags and 7-9 k for the ABS.

Both ABS and Air Bags are offered as an OPTION ONLY on the VXi Euro III compliant model!
I guess we all know by now how many wagon R's with abs and air bags will be sold.

at least there is a start.... two years down the line, the "options only" will transform to necessities...something which the manufacurers will be bound to provide in all the models...

Sure. But whats to be noticed is that features which initially are available only on high-end luxury cars (Like the S Class, 7 series etc.) eventually do find their way to the lower end of the market. I dont mean all the features (half the things that my Mercedes comes with..I can do without), but really value adding features surely make it.

E.g. Alloy wheels, power steering, ABS, airbags, 8 speakers music systems, leather interiors...

A - the palio was the first car to offer ABS and AIRBAGS in its segment
B - i feel maruti should make ABS and AIRBAGS optional throughout the segment
C - MARUTI dealers have little or no idea of the wagonR
D - if you notice the new dashboard is an optional extra in the wagonR (thats what it said in the paper )
E - is it possible to fit ABS in the corolla
how much will it cost
F - the headlamp leveller is a really useful device and its standard in most hondas in india

Dman it!! it took MUL a while to come up with a 3 spoke steering wheel. even the 'new' esteem only has a 2 spoke steering wheel. And adding these gizmos could be MUL's way of attracting back the potential buyers that are considering the premium hatchbacks such as Fusin and Getz.
