Small as in? Exterior measurements?

Well, the exterior dimensions aren't really that different, I guess the styling plays an important role in the perception of overall size.

Here's a comparison of the external dimensions of the three:

Length : SX4 / NHC / Fiesta : 4490 / 4390 / 4282,
Width : SX4 / NHC / Fiesta : 1735 / 1690 / 1686
Height : SX4 / NHC / Fiesta : 1570 / 1495 / 1468

External dimensions are misleading. For instance, the NHC with a length of 4390 has far more leg room/ knee room than the other two, though it is 100 mm less in comparision to the SX4.
The apparent advantage of the SX4 to the tune of 45 to 50 mm in width is lost entirely due to the huge bulge in the centre of the rear seat. You need to sit in it to realise what I am saying. This apart, your head almost touches the roof if you sit in the rear seat of the SX4...so what is the use of 100 mm extra height if the seats are placed so high?
So guys, let us not get fooled by such misleading figures, instead let us sit in all of them and come to a conclusion. IMO, for internal dimensions, NHC is the leader, with Fiesta in 2nd position.

Totally agree with you vnabhi. The internal packaging of the car is far more important as far as passenger comfort is concerned than external dimensions.

The point I was making by mentioning those figures is that the fiesta seems smaller than the other two whereas the difference on paper is marginal. I was talking about styling giving that perception.

Reading the ownership reports of SX4, it looks like most of the owners of SX4 are not very happy with the purchase. I may be wrong, but lately I've noticed SX4 owners talking about lot of issues like clutch, gear vibration, rattles, sluggish pick up etc... So this may tilt some people towards Ford Fiesta and Verna.
