Re: Kerala Motor Vehicle Dept Online

Android users : A reader Vinay has written in with the following info on an app he's put together.

Another simple application developed in my spare time. This app can be used to search for vehicle information by entering the Vehicle registration number. Works for Karnataka registered vehicles.

Rehaan, the app works for Karnataka Motor Vehicle Department only. Put in other words, you've posted the information in wrong thread.

Or is it that you're planning to develop a Android app for Kerala Motor Vehicle Department?

EDIT: When I tried to open the app, I got an error ; 'Beta Expired'. I'm not able to use the app.

Re: Kerala Motor Vehicle Dept Online

What is the number booking range limit? Is it still 2500 numbers ahead or can we book any number within the series?

Re: Kerala Motor Vehicle Dept Online

The MVD kerala website now has facility for online tax payment and online tax token. This is supposed to reduce the rush in RTO offices. The site has been now updated with the new fee for license, vehicle etc. The updated road tax is also available in the home page (Latest news section).
Attaching the updated road tax schedule below.

The site is quite cumbersome like all Govt. sites :-(

So is it possible to get permanent registrations done after online payment?

Don't think so. You have to take the vehicle to RTO inspector, where he will check the vehicle physically and confirm the VIN. Then he will sign on form 21. This form, along with all the other forms, can be obtained online after making payments through MVD website. Final step is to submit all these forms to RTO inspector.

You will get the registration number of the vehicle by the same day evening (if not opted for fancy numbers) from the MVD website.

Basically, all the payments are now online and its more transparent than before, which is good in my view.
