Optra Magnum TCDI - 9.84 sec
Ford Mondeo - 8.5 sec (God please gift me this one!!!)
Mercedes-Benz SLK 350 - 8.3 sec
Hyundai Sonata Embera - 7.9 sec (I am surprized)
BMW 740Li - 6 sec
Mercedes-Benz E280 - 8.3 sec
Mercedes-Benz E280 CDI - 9.02 sec

i am sure that honda accord 2.4 does it below 9 secs and 3.0L does it in below 8 secs and also the camry 2.4L does it below 9 secs.

No way does the v6 accord do it below 8 seconds. The 2.4 would just about break the 10 second mark to the ton if it's a manual.

I will take the Embera figures with truck load of salt, doesnt matter which mag quoted it.

I am sure the Omni will do a 100 and most importantly make getting there from 60 kmph and staying there a lot more exciting than any other car.

These car mag figures

IIRC, one of the recent BSM issues/specials carried a report on the Palio 1.6 Stile with a claimed 9.8s to the ton ! And they have mentioned it in more than one place in the writeup so surely not a typo.

the new 3l is tweaked a bit supposedly. one of the mags quoted 7.9 or so to the ton. im pretty sure the camry figure is right.

The mondeos 0-100 timing is 10.1s cause it needs an extra shift to get there (very short gearing).

the accord 3.0 and 2.4 mt do it in about 9.1s.

Cedia will do it in 10 and half. Tested it personally. Does need third gear though as 2nd can only hit around 96-98. Civic will do it under 10. I have no idea where you got those figures from.

The Audi A4 2.0 TDi does 0-100 in 9.7 secs (as per Autocar TD) I shall check it out for real world numbers after about 1000 kms on the odo !!!!
