obvious choice if you are going for the top end model. What if u have budget for only lxi swift.maruti would not want to loose those customers as well.

No- IMHO. Swift hatch will go on for equally long time like Zen and Esteem. May be later they add an AT too in it.

i think maruti has used the same strategy as tata's were using for their INDIGO and that is the reason indigo is not as sucess as its younger sibling indico. I think swift will also make a adverse impact on the sale of DEZIRE

Never will the hatch be discontinued guys.Its the best seller in the segment and the launch of dzire launch is not enough reason for discontinuing hatch.

A simple answer would be NO! Firstly its a maruti. They will sell the next 3 generations of the swift here together with this one under different names. And they will all sell well!!!

moreover, the dzire and the hatch cater to different segments.
