I have a feeling that the Xover is a successor to the Safari range. Would Tata have 3 models in the same niche segment - Safari (SUV), Sumo Grande (MUV) and Xover with 2 of the model ranges having 4X4 ?

I hope they improve the overall plastic quality in the interiors.

The dashboard looks weird. Where are the AC vents? What's that cavity in the centre for? Don't quite understand the design philosophy. Certainly doesn't match the Innova dash which is a class apart.

Those cut outs would be for the front passenger airbag and sat nav. Mostly for export markets, unfortunately.

Great job Tushky. Even I find the dash to be painfully boring :|

Xover cannot be the successor to Safari and if it is a Sucessor for Safari then this is really a bad successor. This looks like an Innova and can give Innova a run for its money but it cannot replace Safari. Safari needs something that is lot more better.

Yes, a Xenon based 7 seat SUV with space for luggage behind the seats. Ofcourse differential locks as well (as present in the Xenon pickup).

Xover is not the successor to Safari.

You bet it does, especially at the all-too-important-for-comfort rear end. The wheels look like 17 inchers too.

In the Jul edition on CAR india there is a spy pic of the Xover and they have termed it as the possible Safari upgrade. If it looks more like a MUV then how can it replace a SUV like Safari. Competitor M&M definitely is going to have Bolero-Ingenio-Scorpio (UV-MUV-SUV) in their product lineup. What is TATA's strategy here...?

xrover is more of a competition for the innova IMO

safari is a class apart, but they are certainly going to share engine and a bit of other engineering

Tata XO can compete with Innova if it has the quality, looking at the scoop pics, its headed towards the taxi segment. The prototype turns head, will be a hit only if TATA could replicate the prototype into a production one.

It may not be a good idea to scan the magazine and post it here. But then TBhp has much better info which is much ahead of what is posted on these magazines these days, for eg the pics of XO or any other new car.
