Is toyota planning to bring in their latest UV Avanza to india? My friend is planning to buy an innova & He would like to wait if it happens this year.

meanwhile i did a search & found these pics & specs.

If its true, its going to be a serious threat to the, to be launched ingenio, with its 1495 cc engine which will be in favour of the excise cut above 1500 cc engines. They will be able to price it under 6 Lakhs.

Pls. share your knowledge on this. Thanks in advance.

Isn't Innova just a Avanza with make-up? Or vice-versa. I forget all the details but remember reading all about it when Innova was launched. Avanza is a big car would compete with Innova.

Somebody correct me I seem to be under some confusion.

This is one step ahead and more uglier than the Innova, look at the toyota Harrier why arn't we so lucky to get those kind of MUVs here? Why only crap designs are sold to India,we too rank at a good position in the world and have more luxury cars than any other upcoming countries.

But the catch will be in the pricing with that small engine. They can place it well below six lakhs. This may even attract the urban bolero customers.

If this does come to India then Ingenio would seriously face a big threat. But knowing Toyota if they launch it , it wont be in near future as they quite lazy when it comes to launches.

But will a 1495cc engine be able to propel a bodyshell of Innova's size/ weight and catch up with its competitors? True the looks are ugly and TYPICAL JAPANESE DESIGN TAILORED FOR THE THIRD WORLD TO STAY AFLOAT !

Mostly this car is not coming. Some months back there was news that Toytoa is coming up with a MUV, but then the news has disappeared.

If this car comes to India, then Tavera and Ingenio is under threat. Both of them will have very tough competetion.

Tell your friend to stop waiting for this car and buy Innova. This car isnt coming soon.

As per the current speed of updating old cars and launching of new cars, it will come in 2015 or 2018. They still do not understand the potential of Indian market while the late comers like GM or even BMW are playing well.

This could make for a good Qualis replacement.
The only irony here is we all need a 3rd row which Avenza doesn't possess in comfort.

It's built on the same platform as Innova.
Believe me, it's a good vehicle. I've got a ride in it. It's in between Qualis and Innova.
There should be a good price difference between both if Toyota is planning to sell both here. But it ain't impossible for Toyota. They can even put some small split seats or bench seats in the 3rd row and release it here. It will sell if accompanied with a good price tag, I am sure.

By their own admission from their ongoing "studious study" of the Indian market, Toyota have said they'll launch a small car next. I think they're done with UVs for the time being.

How can they, look at the length, its 4120 mm, its supposed be under 4000 mm to get the excise benefits for a small car

Rs.20,000/- extra for cars with engine size above 1500 cc.

Infact i saw a mail from one of the mahindra employees & it says that toyota may price it at Rs.5.92 lakhs for the lower end model & it will be a serious threat to their "Cash Cow" bolero. He also went to the extent of stating that Amir Khan will be the Brand ambassador for this product too. (too much )

Thats where my friend got confused whether to wait for it or not.
