Chickmanglur, Darjeleeling, parts of Kerala

all this is based on need not luxury. I'm not talking about Prados and Pajeros, but Mahindras and the like

@Mods: Can you please change the thread name from "Which city has more number of SUVs in India?" to "Which city has more number of modern SUVs in India?". Thanks in advance.

I think Delhi has max number of SUVs. Scorpio and Safari are seen as the most driven but I can find good numbers of CRV, Captiva, ML350, Pajero, Q7, X5, X3, Cayenne and other imported one as well.

SUV/Offroader - Kerala!

The old Mahindra Jeeps are used by almost 60% to 70% of people for local transit.

I believe this high SUV incidence in Hyderabad / AP is more to do with the predominantly agrarian background of many affluent people. Many of such people used Ambassadors to move to their homes in urban areas and to their fields in their villages. Ones who regularly used Ambassador take a liking to its inner space and the comfort. And if it is in the range of affordability, many prefer Boleros, Scorpois, Safaris both for practical purposes and for statues consciousness. Ofcourse, aura of status an SUV gives is high. Add to it the real estate boom Hyderabad in particular and AP in general is witnessing.

I had an Ambassador which I sold. I now have a Bolero and an Indica. I prefer Bolero for longer trips with more than 3 persons. If it is less than three then it is Indica. For me, it is all practicality and economy, and nothing like being status conscious.

Quite true. See quite a few of them around where i live. One particular house has two of them. One is red with the gold two-tone treatment, while the other is maroonish. Both with bling alloys n all.

I wonder whats their fascination with the color!

Why don;t we ask Mods to add a poll to this? It will give clear picture on which city has more instead of going through all the mails from 1st to last.

Most of the hill stations normally have SUV’s. Kerala has most of the best imports SUV’s and there are some families in Kerala who prefers only SUV’s. If any one what’s to pick up a SUV then it would be Kerala.
