Thanks for your help MikeM - lets see where that leads.

I'm quite shocked that a YELLOW car was stolen, (stats say yellow is the least likely to get stolen! bad luck!) -- and that too its a pajero, which is not at all a common car on the roads here.

The police say this is not the first Pajero in the area to be stolen!!!

Please keep your eyes open guys!!

Thanks,
R

ps - thanks to GTO for posting as i was away from the internet.

I know its not the right time, but, was the car locked and immobiliser on?
Ive known of boleros and scorpios being stolen from peddar and nepeansea roads, but Pajero, means a gang is operative and the cops sure are turning a blind eye!

Scoobyji,

I would imagine the car was locked!!

However, the strange part is that apparently there is no key-chip or immobilizer provided with this car! Suprising for a car costing so much isnt it??

And yes, given that Pajero thefts were common in the area i'm sure the police already have some sort of leads - dont want to accuse them of turning a blind eye as yet!

There was an article run in the newspaper a couple of weeks back. It listed Boleros, scorps and pajeros as cars that are highly likely to be boosted. These cars the end up in UP or MP, where they are sold under false registration or used as escort vehicles in political rallies.

If the car was stolen this morning, chances are its out of the state by now.

I remember a incident some years back. A brand new pajero was stolen from Shivaji Park. 2 months later it was found in UP. It had been used for a political rally.

If you have any links, check with all toll nakas which go out of the city.

Either ways, will keep a watch around.

And if things get hot in UP/MP , they end up in Assam,Arunachal Pradesh or Meghalaya. I've seen umpteen Delhi Reg and Punjab Reg luxury cars over here ranging from S-classes and also Safaris . I've not noticed any southern/western state reg's as of yet.Infact , the police station in Arunachal has about 3 delhi reg stolen Safari's confiscated very recently. This is well known because i do liaise with the Chief Vigilance Officer on various matters.

i'll keep an eye for Pajeros in north-east once I'm back there around the 15th this month.

am near new bombay area today. I know the toll nakas fellows quite well now (have fought with them a lot!). i'l pass a word around to them as well.
keep us updated if recovered.
i'm sure you checked with the police towing since i live near priyadarshini park and the full area is no parking. Due to a lot of vip movement they tend to tow cars without notice at any time.
anyways, my sympathies.

Yes, that was my first (and second) impression as well! But Byram says he has checked and re-checked and it has not been towed.
Also, thats where the "many pajeros have been stolen in this area" eradicates the hope of it being towed.

Looks like some prankster took it for a joyride and abandoned it.

You would think its hard to dispose something like a Pajero without getting caught. Bolero is another story.
