You are comparing a 2008 no-boot no-rearspace underpowered city car with a 2001 Esteem ?!

when I did my trip to hometown in 2005 using my 2003 esteem, it returned over 22km/ltr. The speeds were 80-100, and it was a drive in the night 10pm to 10am with only one stop.

It was just the car and me, no luggage / passengers

But later runs never gave me more than 18, though 16 was always predictable.

Great mileage reported by all!!!

I never get more than 20 in my Zen (Mpfi) which is quite underpowered compared to the esteem. I wonder how you guys get the mileage.

Feel free to give driving tips

Our 1993 Maruti 1000 still gives a respectable 16km on the highway and the carb probably needs an overhaul. The Esteem is a much better car and i'm still getting over the fact that Maruti replaced this car with the D'Zire.

Drat....with an occasional light foot (and a heavy heart) I'm able to squeeze out only 7.5 kmpl from my 1000 (in city)...this is on LPG and with the A/c on about 70% of the time. Havent put it on the highway as yet but I guess I could assume the highway mileage to be around 10 at the most.

Does pinch in these tough times

Yesterday I came from Shimla-Delhi. Used tankful to tankful method for computing mileage. Here are the stats. 14 litres for 326 kms. Which comes out to a whopping 23.28 kmpl !!!!
Driving conditions - 2 people, some luggage, 75-80 kmph speed.

Mileage confirmed guys. Came again from Shimla-Delhi. 15.98 ltrs for 370 kms. ~ 23.15 kmpl.
