Fiesta Vs Linea Vs Verna - which is the best diesel?

Diabloo I got your point, But did you get mine. 40 days wow thats a lot aint it. And there has been only 2-3 members who have got their Linea so far. Unless we have some ownership reports etc etc, and also I have added IMO

It is better to ignore the ratings given by individuals.

Best way to compare is to Test drive all the 3 cars, you will know the look & feel of the car, how the engine performs, ride quality, handling etc.

The simple answer here is Ford Fiesta

I own one and am not claiming Fiesta is the best because of any bias. To be honest i sincerely felt Linea would absolutely kill it when it was being launched.
But a detailed test drive later, i stand disappointed with the Linea.

For me, if you are a driving enthusiast; the ride, handling & drivability of a car is most important. Now if you are going for diesel, then let me presume that fuel efficiency is significant for you. Also spending 7-9 lacs for a car, you want something good looking/ handsome. For me, Fiesta again comes out the trumps in the Fuel Efficiency and Looks department. But yes looks are subjective and differ from person to person.

Fiesta simply kills others when it comes to drivability, handling and maneuverability. It always seems that the car understands what you want it to do. Same for the efficiency. The Duratorq engine is highly frugal and reliable one.
Now, i have read many things about Verna's straight line acceleration. But the catch here is that the time taken from 20-80 for Verna and Fiesta is almost the same. I again assume that at most times, you will be driving and accelerating in this range. Above speeds of 110 km/hr I never found the Verna stable or instilling confidence in me. Fiesta and Linea are definitely more stable at high speeds and seem well planted on road.
On looks front, I don't want to be offensive but i find Verna downright ugly.
Linea is a great looker and gives you substantial metal for your money. The car is decent to drive though its weight shows when you drive. It has a comfortable pair of front seats. I found the rear inconvenient to get in and out from (being 6ft and heavily built).
Yes Fiesta is a bit cramped at the rear but is easy to get into and out of it.

Most people grumble about the A|S|S of Ford. Somehow, my dealer has not created any problems for me yet (touch wood).

IMHO, Overall ratings:
Verna: 7/10
Linea: 8/10
Fiesta: 8.5/10

for a city ride, linea being bigger is at disadvantage. so the fight is between verna and fiesta. both have good looks, but my marks goes to fiesta. if u bring service and spares into picture, then verna wins hands down. if you bring the VFM quotent.. then tight fight again between fiesta and verna. what fiesta and linea suffer are from a less powerful engines on bigger car.
so bottomline, tough to choose, but to pick one, i would pick the verna. :-)

[COLOR=black][FONT='Verdana','sans-serif']A fabulous Ownership for the linea is still questionable but driving pleasure is certainly high. My recent visit to a dealership was an experience to forget. The car still has to fight an uphill battle; Verna has commanded some space in the diesel market. I would still wait before naming linea a challenger![/FONT][/COLOR]

I suppose no car satisfies all criteria these days.
We just choose car based on what best fits our requirements.

Linea (Great Mileage, Ride quality & gadgets)
Verna (Power)
Fiesta (Good mileage, Driving pleasure and handling)

every one is talking about the fiesta control . agreed for the petrol 1.6 its needed to take corners at higher speeds!! but with a puny 70bhp engine when will guys take corners at 120kmph??

better get a swift then nice power and control!!

Fiesta:

Best handling car in the segment. Best driver's car IMO
Has its share of proven FE records
The A.S.S is not up to the mark in some places
Interior space is slightly cramped

Verna:

Powerful sedan which can put most petrol sedans in the segment to shame on a straight line.
The handling is too bad in my experience. You should be upgrading the suspension setup to gain the balance of power & handling
Interior space is decent
Reliable Hyundai A.S.S

Looks like you have never seen or driven Fiesta TDCi on a highway or in winding ghats. That puny 70BHP really has good ability to surprise.

I, too, thought the same as you earlier, but then I have personally seen that car's abilities on NH4 and I was pleasantly surprised.
