Maybe they can chop the roof of the Yaris (that is if they launch the yaris instead of the VIOS) and sell it as a convertible.
It is the only way it wil sell or as i said in my previous post maybe they are testing it for the launch of the VIOS.

A convertible from Toyota would be mind blowing, considering that nobody in India makes convertibles, except for Mahindra Geeps and the GYPSY.. That would open up an entirely different segment of vehicles.. But i am not complaining..

Bring it on..

Errr.
Isn't some one forgetting SAN.
Guys i am not spamming but am serious.
The only three reasons the Yaris could be undergoing testing here is -
1. It has some underbody changes and are testing it around the world to see that it copes with the conditions before a launch in some part of the world.

2. Testing the platform and all before launching the VIOS.

3. Strip it down into a convertible as it would be the only way it would sell.

i was telling if Mercedes launched their A-class at 6.5 lacs people may buy it due to Mercedes Brand name.Mercedes can manage to sell their small car at 6.5L in india not toyota or honda. It is just a statement.

i clearly know the A-class will not cost below 15 lacs in India.it costs 13K+ pounds in the UK itself for basic model.

Please see in what refrence the statement is made before writing anything.

Guys i am sure the BMW 1 series is no family small car... It will for sure be powered by atleast 100 bhp and (hopefully) have a RWD. Now if you had a 7 series to go around and a x5 for the weekend trips and you wanted a car to go to the supermarket next block what would you buy?

P.S - Change the 7 series to S class and the X5 to M and you have your answer...

Lambo,

I wouldn't quite consider SAN motors to be in the same class as a Toyota.. But there is nothing wrong with Toyota tapping potentially niche customer markets trying to get the funky image.. Haven't heard any vehicle boasting of a moon-roof yet.. So a convertible is very welcome..

Manish.

Manish.
Our Astra club has a moonroof. The Optra also has an optional sunroof.

The Octy and superb and the E class boast of a moon roof.
I agree with you on SAN but the only thing i can't figure out is why it costs so bloody much.
Heck i will not even pay 3L for it .. forget 6L.
But lets see,
my bet is the VIOS as i am sure Toyota knows that the Yaris will not sell.
Oh and Merve,
i agree about the Merc remark.
If they manage to sell 3 - 4 Vianos in a month - why would anyone pay so much for such a crappy crappy car? - , the A class will sell for 10L easily.
