Maruti should have introduced the A/T in its Swift. IMHO, if the Ritz VDi is available with the autobox it could be a killer.

I remember the horrible WagonR A/T. It was a good lakh plus expensive and was available in the lowest trim. No wonder no one bought it.

Ritz Vdi A/T, im a buyer!!

Since the manual version of A-Star VXi comes at 3.75L, and automatic variant comes only in VXi, I expect it to come at 4.1L - 4.2L ex-showroom.

Apparently the car is going to be launched tomorrow. Motoroids and Indianautosblog seem to have done test drives. I wonder if TBHP has our own review in the pipeline.

I think the success of the model could boil down to the level of discounts being offered. If Maruti offers the same discounts for the AT model that they offer for the non-AT, i.e 25,000 Rs, it should be a hit.

i10 Magna AT sells for around 4.5 Lakhs Ex showroom.
To compensate for the lack of rear seat space + boot space + smaller 3 cylinder 998 cc engine, MSIL should price the Astar AT around 4.25 Lakh (taking in the ABS factor) to compete with i10 AT sales.

Astar AT will be a success only if maruti prices it right.

Actually there is not much choice in the small car segment except for i10.

Maruti should consider selling ATs in all the versions unlike what they did earlier for ZEN and Wagon R. AT was the top most model and priced highest.they should have AT as a option like ABS/Air bag etc

Thge AT variant gets same features as the VXi. Following the pricelist:

VARIANT PRICES (IN RUPEES)
MARUTI A-STAR AUTOMATIC Rs. 435947.53
MARUTI A-STAR LXI Rs. 357788.17
MARUTI A-STAR VXI Rs. 386039.27
MARUTI A-STAR ZXI Rs. 422678.56

All prices ex showroom Kolkata.

About 50K more for the AT box - sounds OK pricing rather than great pricing to me.
Now if they extend the same offer they provide for other Astar variants to the AT model, it would be a very good alternative to people who do not really care about beige interiors or rear seats.
I would have given this car a serious thought if it had come out an year earlier.

Yup, it is indeed available in sx4 and that's a good thing, however swift is the one which also needs AT transmission.
Very good of Maruti to atleast start working in this direction.
