I agree with you Spitfire, Mahindra will promote Dacia as their world SUV. They will definitely not launch Dacia in India, as it is a direct competitor to Scorpio & Xylo.

One never knows though. I would be surprised that Mahindra will be pushing the Dacia as their world SUV.

The Mahindra is definitely not the Dacia.

+1 to the above. Especially when MM has global ambitions, I don't think they will borrow from someone else's stable and call it their flagship.

No way the Qashqai-based Dacia SUV is the Mahindra 'world SUV'. The Qashqai is a compact SUV. The M&M vehicle in question looks much bigger. Not too sure if M&M would be interested in bringing the Dacia SUV as it would eat into Scorpio sales.

It is a pity, because there is room in the market for a sub-12 lac, compact SUV that is lighter and more efficient than the Scorpio/Safari. Also, one that does not have a 'taxi' image attached to it.

Looking at Mahindra Renaults sales they would first need to survive till 2011 as company and than look for new products . In 2 yrs timeframe they may ot exist .

Sorry that I cannot make out the dimensions. But, if this is a "two box sedan" - like the Indigo Marina - I do not see any competition to the Xylo or other products from the M&M stable.

I have driven a Qashqai here in Dubai. Its no where comparable to the one test driven by mahindra. It looks like in the league of Nissan pathfinder or endavour range

mahindra test mule is much much bigger than the dacia whatever. now with strained relationships between renault and mahindra, i don't see this coming down here. The mule is an all mahindra SUV.

I hope Dacia Sandero Stepway would become Mahindra Nissan Renault (Sandero) Stepway! Sticker lovers will have no place to stick anything in the back, it would be full already.

Well as their relationship is not going too good, in near future Renault might go on their own (they have a plant with the Nissan in Chennai and are comming up with Micra).

Also for the world SUV by Mahindra, seems like it is their inhouse devlopment and they might have fully working prototyes (with lights and all) sent ot other parts of the world for testing and promotion.

Upon Searching google came up with this picture

Mahindra Renault's secret weapon?-mahindra_2011_world_suv_w202.jpg

@ Spitfire - exactly my sentiments... Overhang is way more in M&M.
The ridge/line going across the sides of each vehicle is also different.
