So what's new here? All the features have been available before also and at the same price points too.

Last time i took test drive of Aveo (1.4), it was without ABS/Airbags (don't know about driver seat height adjust).

If i remember it right GM provided all these features in their 1.6 Aveo.

Seems that Aveo is getting heat from its competitors.

GM seems to be the only company that even today offers only a driver's side airbag. I wonder why?! I think only the Optra offers two airbags, right?

As for this special edition Aveo, it's clearly a desparate attempt at reviving flagging Aveo sales.

The Aveo looks outdated. Unless GM decides to spruce it up a bit, you can forget any chance of a revival.
@Amit
AFAIK the Optra does have two airbags.

I bought my 1.4 base model in 2007 without any of the below extras for the same 6 lakhs ex-showroom . However GM's website is till not updated with this variant.

The new special edition Aveo comes with the following extra’s
* Height Adjustable Driver Seat - Great for shorter drivers
* Drive Air Bag - Great safety feature
* ABS + EBD - Great safety feature
* Leather Upholstery - Good for those who like leather feel. I have 2 kids and thank my stars for my fabric seats every time they make a mess!
* Leather Steering Wheel and Leather Gear Knob
* Illuminated Key Cylinder - Very useful at night
* Rear seat arm rest with cup holders - Ornamental for me but useful is only 2 people at the back. Cupholder is generally useless in India due to bumpy roads unless having in special cups/glasses for mobile use
* Chromed inside and outside door handles - Looks great
Overall a good deal for those looking for

What I was asking was of all GM cars today, it's only Optra that offers 2 airbags.

What do I say. My sympathies with Chevrolet. Seems its going the Opel Way, I feel they will try to introdce products at lower price points. But price alone does not sell the product. Look at Honda.
People should avoid this 5.97 lakhs trick, they are going to recover all this in after sales service. Please see the satisfaction survey for GM vehicles. If they reduce the price point in that too, then quality will surely suffer.
It is no surprise that Fortpoint, in Mumbai, stopped dealing in GM vehicles and opted for Maruti.

There is nothing special in this Special Edition Aveo, most of the accessories that are offered with this Aveo are very much common now a days.
So what do you mean by this Special Edition Aveo ??
Its just a thing to make money from consumers that needs something special.
Anyone has pics ???

they are just beating a dead horse - Aveo is the worst selling sedan by a huge margin, and nothings going to bring it back from its grave.

Well thats not whats wrong with the car. If I take the example of Esteeem there are people who has said the car is outdated but the same guy has still gone and purchased the car . The reason is more than just a car. The reason is
  • Trust in the brand
  • The future value of the investment
  • The service they are providing for the product.
In all these three areas , GM is lagging behind like Fiat in a big way. Unless they get these 3 areas in the right place things are never going to look up for these brands . With the recent showdown by GM I guess the future prospectus for the brand is quite bleak and the way back to gain customer trust is going to be tough.

If that were the case we would see a lot less Optras on the road than we do. Whatever the reasons be, they really need to pull up their socks.
Hope the Cruze does it for them.

I think the 'Limited' bit is the price at 6 lakhs which when compared to a base model Ford Fiesta 1.6 EXI is superb because the latter does not include ABS, EBD, leather or airbags! Makes the Aveo even more VFM along with the 3 year Chevy Promise.
