Coming to discussion....
It is so very strange that all ppl here..who are knowledgable in auto industry, start comparing Swift with Santro.
It was Hyundai stratergy which seems to be working...nobody even talks abt. Swift-Getz. And this way Hyundai has made sure Getz remains intact and at the same time manage to increase sales of santro (with this kind of comparison and its revised price tag).
Althoug I own Santro xing and I feel its very practical for city driving..but want to be fair with Swift which is miles ahead of it....

I speak good about lancer than I am a fanboy. I speak good about wagonR then I am a fanboy I dunno what to say now.

I said wagonR beats santro in FE as I get good mileage personally. We have won the wagonR mileage challenge before. In city FE is 17-18 for my wagonR while my both uncles get around 15 in their santros.

dceite, this was not expected from a team-bhpian...surely a let down.

1.1l in swift???? what does that mean..now u will say plonk a sub-litre motor in a car like mondeo ....where do u want indian automobile industry to head?? the market should mature now, and the thrust should be on power and quality. i dont approve the acts of maruti....providing such old technology to the consumer. i was hoping that this will change with the swift... maybe i was expecting too much from them...

maruti as the mass manufacturer holds the responsibility of bringing about changes in the market trends, other small players can only follow suit. If the maruti people can not take hard decisions like phasing out old machines n upgrading motors on the others, while improving upon quality, i wuold prefer to see either the factories locked out due to any damn reason or GM somehow overtaking it........

i can anticipate some fingers raising on my opinion..but this is what i feel, get maruti to improve things, or do away with those crap producing factories...

Guys I have seen wagon R in UK and it looks much better than the Indian variant. The size is the same but the change in design of the front and back tail lights makes all the difference. I think Maruti should launch that Suzuki model in India too.

Well guys my personal opinion is that the Santro is a wonderful car an i doubt it will be wiped out. Also its faster then Zen, Wagon R, Indica, Palio 1.2.

So i guess the Santro is giong to stay where it is.

Also he Getz as a reduced pricing an i feel its going to sell alot since he Swif is 6 months away *** after you book the ca. SAD BU TRUE.

Moderators, Sorry for being little Out of Topic !!

Hi Devarshi,

Any tips that you want to share with us for increasing the FE in City and Highway Driving ?? I hear people usually get around 13-15 w/o AC.

What all special care or adoptations you took to increase the FE of your WagonR ?

Maruti cars are just the Best!

Hi guyz,

Maruti should'nt do that!
Instead relaunch the ALTO 1.1 and also pull down the prices of .8 alto and Wagon R. Maybe they should also launch a more basic version of Wagon R.

And How about taking that murky lookin' NEW ZEN out of the market and bring in something sportier like that luvly old ZEN with some decent power like the 1.3l engines produce? They should begin selling a customisable version of this car too. 1.6/DOHC engine upgradability, 2 door option (not limited editions) height adjustable suspension, ABS and Disc Brakes all around must be included in the options.

BUT PLEASE, DONT EVER SAY A HYUNDAI CAN BEAT A SUZUKI!!!!!!

I guess... more than Swift the Getz needs HELP.... better put the 1.1L Santro thing in Getz.. to help both Santro and Getz by finishing the WagonR..... (How was that? )

@speedzak... no Alto1.1 won't sell a single piece... the bloody car doesn't have space to sit! ... Also I like driving around my 1.1... which is now a rare sight on roads ... thats why its more fun.

I have another take on this.

Maruti should put in the esteem 1.3 engine (note-not the remapped swift engine) in the wagon R- revise the gearings. This would make the wagon r peppier as well as ore fuel efficient since the esteem engine is realy high on FE.

For the swift,Maruti should offer the present 1.3 in the Lxionly and the vxi and zxi should be offered with hte brilliant 1.6 of the baleno.

Wot say guys?!!!!

Yeah and let the Wagon R lose the excise duty advantage it has because it is < 1.2 litres.

I'd like to see it sell
