Initiating this thread to compare three of the most prominent C+ segment diesel sedans in India.

Good Initiative.

I am sure in the next issue of ACI we are sure to see a comparison of these 3.

In fact I am not a fan of GM nor Skoda. Would be interesting to see who is the winner here.

Cruze is pretty cramped. If i sit in the front seat comfortably, no one can sit behind me :( , the optra is waaay more spacious in comparison.

Cruze for sure..who cares about the back seat..I'll be the only one driving..It's enough if i'm seated comfortably..and with all those gizmos in the car and power on tap in the engine...I really don't have any reason to hate this beauty :D

well if u have the budget the Jetta wins then the laura & the cruze, my personal opinion..

Comfort: Laura
Driving pleasure: Cruze
pretty simple. At least that is what I would do.

cruze no doubt, only drawback is its attrocious seat comfort as compared to extremely comfy laura.

Jetta cause its german...

Laura and Jetta both bring in the german build and ride stability to the fore.

The Laura petrol is faster than the accord V6 in real life situations.

The Laura 2.0 TDI and the cruz are comprable for power and peformance.

The Cruz has a freshness that others would find hard to match.

The Jetta has kid of failed if one looks at the numbers. (though last month was their best.)

That leaves the Cruz and Laura. Cruz would score in the service peace of mind aspect. (It has a 3 year warranty vs 2 for the Laura.)

I belive from the drive aspect and long term looks aspect the Laura leads. Cruz is a bit cramped in terms of head space.

Any new car buyer should try out both cars and then take a call. It will be close.

1. The Jetta Comfortline is at least Rs 6 to 7 lakh costlier than the Cruze. Further, it has the pumpe duse engine which is going to be replaced with the CRDi by April 2010.

2. The Laura Elegance also has the pumpe duse engine which should also get the CRDi.

Until these two cars get the CRDi engine, I'll not touch them. Once that happens, I'll prefer the Jetta between the two even if its priced higher.

The Cruze has a terrific engine but has a low ceiling height and low ground clearance. I'll, however, consider it before decising on the Jetta.

Laura elegance has both the 1.9PD and 2.0 TDI engines. Not exactly Crdi but a 2.0 engine delivering 140 bhps is as good as it gets right now.

It would be the cruze for me. The best VFM car in indian market right now. But optra with its reduced price post cruze launch also sound a good deal right now. If you can make do with the cramped space at the rear then go for the Cruze mate.

well comfort Laura
driving pleasure 1.8 TSI
gizmos- Cruze LTZ
VFM -Cruze
Due to the new changes in the laura according to me Jetta looks plain Boring.

Better add a poll and please do add Altis and Civic too.

Laura is a Skoda. That simple fact is good enough for me to remove it from consideration altogether.

Comfort? Jetta
Performance, VFM? Cruze.

take your pick :)
