Every manufacturer does it.
Ford: New models every now and then with new features based on customer preferance
Maruti: Redesigned SX4 backseat
Tata: Niggles
Mercedes: W211 E220 and E230 launched. Customers bought other brands like BMW which had more variety and were cheaper. This led to Mercedes realizing that the E220 and E230 actually had a market here and got it in.

Yes, they do.

To give most recent example that I know of, initial batches of Ritz Zxi models didn't have remote boot release lever near driver seat as it was controlled by the remote locking system itself. This design has a security flaw that when the doors are unlocked, the boot is also unlocked.

The latest Ritz Zxi I saw in the showroom had a remote boot release lever near the fuel lid lever below driver seat. That IMO is a quick correction by Maruti .
