The Reva doesn't cost five lakh. Its between three and four if I remember correctly. Besides 9000 pounds is significantly more than five lakhs.

Reva retails for 8495 dollars in UK according to Wikipedia so i find it fair to compare both these cars.

An OT query to the OP about the thread title. Are you not repeating yourself? I think you meant "Inspired the Nano? Or inspired by the Nano"!

McLaren,

Yes it doesn't cost exactly 5 lakhs. I quoted an approximate figure! There are plenty of options that one would tick while buying a Reva. So if you round off the costs involved, it should be around 5 lakhs approximately!

This Mitsubishi does cost 9000 pounds and that is significantly higher than the Reva.

But think about it! The new VW Polo costs around 15,000 pounds in the UK and that's pretty high when you compare it to the estimated sticker price that the Polo will sport in India.

The answer is localization. If Mitsubishi could localize a few parts for this car, they can sell it at 4 lakhs a pop and cars like the Estilo/Wagon-R would take a thorough beating!
