Maruti is planning to launch a new mini MPV based on the existing SX4 platform. It remains to be seen whether its going to be the SX4 hatch sold abroad from which the current sedan is derived. It will complement the Maruti Eeco. The concept will be displayed at the upcoming Auto Expo in New Delhi though it may take upto 2 years for the actual product to roll off the production line.

It would be nice if you could post the source of this news bit. Let me help with some links.

This is again a good move from Maruti. Thy could bring the SX4 MPV to fill the gap in this segment. Procong and kit level would be a major factor deciding the success of such a car.

Will try and do that next time. Incidentally Autocar is carrying a picture of the new WagonR on its cover for the Jan2010 issue as seen on the ACI website. Don't know if that's the one they are planning to launch in April.

Anyhow the debate on the original SX4 hatch should start now. Are they going to bring this in or is it going to be a new design on based on the current SX4 platform? Going by the time frame provided (1.5 to 2 years) it seems to be the former that is more likely.

good,Maruti not do only about "Eeco" but they plan "R3 MPV concept"
that may be all New small 3 row MPV for Suzuki

b) They are going to come up with APV later in 2010 and will be placed at approximately Rs. 5 lakh.

i think they means that Suzuki japan will also use concept R3 to replace current indonesia's build Suzuki APV and that mean indonesia and international market that are now sell the apv will get the concept R3 to replace apv in next 2 year

Here's the sketch of the new RIII concept from Maruti.

whoa! What is this? Mercedes face and Swift body? looks like a shrunken Altura to me!

Lots of imaginations on unseen car. Hope one another good APv will roll out from Maruti. Will be there in Auto Expo in January.

The picture looks like a compressed SX4 hatch sold overseas. Who knows probably Maruti may bring that in with 2 seats * 3 row seating arrangement.

As per information trickling in from BSM website the R III concept will be displayed at the Auto Expo 2010. It is expected to come with the famed 1.3 DDIS in addition to a new K series 1.4 unit. Based on the SX4 platform, its expected to go on sale in late 2011. Looks like they are aiming to place it in between the Dzire and the SX4.
