Swift Type 1 and Type 2

bhpians.

While going through the Swift User manual, realised that there are two types - Type 1 and Type 2 Swift cars.

Does any one has any idea what is the difference and how to find out whihc Type the car is.

Its easy to distinguish Type2 from the rear - the bumper has two tapered lines, and the refreshed tail lamps.

There is a slight change in the front bumper and grill design too.

In they Type 2 swift
  • Instrument cluster backlight is white. (orange in type 1)
  • Chrome surrounds for speedometer and tachometer dials.
  • Clock has become a standard in all models.(not sure)

Not so. Type 1 or Type 2 doesnt matter, If its either an VXi/ZXi/VDi, u get the chrome surrounds for the speedo.

The grille is different and so are the wheel cups(different designs) in the Type 1 and Type 2. The Type 2 sports a honeycomb grille with larger holes for better air passage when compared to type 1. Type 2 is a lot better looking, despite the fact that the changes are very minimal.

I believe GLAM was a limited edition, while I was scouring the dealers, one dealer showed me the gloden Brown ( actually looked Black) telling its available immdediatly , but I stuck to my Diesel .Am not too sure Maruti would continue selling something which is available in only two colors.

Hey what I guess is that Type-1 is the very first model of swift and if you have observed carefully, Type-2 comes with refreshed tail lamps.

Clock again is model dependent, base model LDI, LXI do not sport clock.

Next Gen Swift will be showcased at Paris Auto Show ( Mid 2010). So there are chances we might see it sometime next year. Multijet 2 in it would make it more tempting!!

I actually liked the type 1 taillights better. For once, clear lens didn't look quite as good.
