Got these pics of the combi a few days back, a very very rare sighting indeed. Almost fell in love with it immediately. Has any station wagon made it here in India ?? Another one bites the dust, i guess. Very very sad for another great looking car.

There is a common misconception that Station Wgons dont sell in India. Its just that people cannot associate the extra utility that the station wagon offers (over the corresponding sedan) with the price premium they have to pay over the sedan version of the same car. Thinking of the premium Altura charged over the Baleno, it was price alone that made the Altura a non seller.

Can we analyse Adventure Sport sales (post price correction) vs Petra's sales?

In India, the Station Wagon versions were never ever marketed properly.

Before people start to give me the Marina vs Indigo story, I would like to say that lets get comparing Marina's sales with Indigo's sales to private buyers (for non commercial uses).

If I was to ever buy an Octy first hand, it will be the Combi RS!

I dont think this will sell skoda should concentrate on bringing a the laura series at the right price if they want to still be in the race other wise times running out for them sales are falling and now this new blow optra Disel , and the last nail in the coffin is going to be Corolla disel as and when it comes ,i dont know why this company wants to offer old model of 1996 and still want to compete with optra civic 2006 and the new corolla 2007 ( which offcourse will come in 2008 ) and in the process frustrate us also ,and even more when you see laura as octavia in other countries being sold cheaper then older octavia sold here SKODA people we need LAURA VRS AT RS 12 LACKS AND YES LOADED

Combi is not a new launch. But I agree with your Laura thoughts, but perhaps the Laura Combi Diesel vRS is the answer to a lot of cars in that segment. Provided priced agressively and not arbitrarily.

Skoda is too slow with its Combi's in India, they are yet to launch the Octavia 4X4 Combi in India, let alone the Combi Scout.

Combis come in RS (petrol) or L&K (diesel) versions.

Skoda India is running two models behind Europe in its Combi class. A company which first claimed to introduce it's contemprory European/international models in India, this has been quite a letdown.

i guess this station wagon culture is big in the west and europe becase of the concept of 'soccer mom'. but that culture has not yet caught on here.
also another reason can be, if some one wants a spaciaus car at that price (15 lacs) he / she will buy a Hyundai Tucson or Pajero or an Xtrail.

cheers.

I got a chance of peeking into a maroon combi standing by the road side. The car looked awesome. In comparison to the other station wagons this one looks more spacious and classy
