Fiesta thermostat replacement program

I also got it done at Harpeet Ford on 20th Feb. But, I am not sure whether they replaced it. After the job, when I asked the supervisor about it, he showed a silver coloured film in the compressor and said that part has been replaced! Though I totally got confused, I decided not ask more thinking "whatever it is it will be good for the car".

I think they have to remove the dashboard to access the thermostat....As the dealer get that refitted, Will the finish quality will be similar to that of factory fit?
