It is a head v/s heart situation.
Ideally if I was looking for myself, a figo 1.6 S would have been a no brainer, though in reality, I would choose a Figo 1.2/1.4 TDCi as a city car.
If only the Polo was bigger and better VFM.

Voted for Figo because of the following reasons:

1. VFM compared to Polo
2 More spacious than polo
3. Better to drive than Polo

I test drove the polo and the figo petrol and found the petrol to be a way better car in terms of driving pleasure.
I felt the engine in the polo absolutely lacked grunt and drivablity.
The car was also dull to drive in comparison to the more exciting figo.

But the plus sides that the polo has are well built interiors and its a solid car .
It looks much better than the figo for me atleast.
So it is again going to be based on what the customer wants and prefers over the other.

Polo, for me ,is the better car overall

Given a choice on the petrol, Figo would be better. In fact even on the diesel it would be better. The superior quality of build of Polo is negated by an lower engine performance esp the on the diesel. Cannot quote on the petrol yet. Although Figo's pink interiors are atrociou

Know what's even more surprising? The poll is an exact 50:50 between the two (46 votes each) as I type this post.

The VW Polo 1.2 petrol is surprisingly peppy for its size. That would be my choice amongst the Polo & Figo petrols.

Diesels however, the Figo it is. Actually, the Figo is probably the best 5 lakh rupee diesel hatchback in the country today. Linear power delivery & excellent ride + handling combo.

I feel that Figo gives more bang for your money. Definitely yes Figo
Polo's biggest drawback is its comparative pricing & dealership network. I learnt through the some of the threads that POLO will be an expensive car to maintain as the service cost is pretty steep.

not to leave out stupendous FE. some fiesta cabbies were quoting 18-20kmpl figures. Figo should deliver atleast that much

Polo looks and feels like a contemporary hatchback
whereas the figo loses out on the styling front

but in comparison I think that figo will be cheaper to maintain

Figo would be the choice.
Worried about the A$$ of VW. I feel Ford is far better than VW

Polo wins in terms of good body build & handling.

Good review! I too had back to back road tests of both cars and you have covered everything I observed and more. I suppose the Figo is greater VFM than the Polo. Then again they fall into different segments in terms of price.

from all i have read till now about both the cars i think Figo is VFM.
One drives his car to work and back and maybe the odd weekends out, so what one needs is a car which is good VFM and think figo is the one

There's no way you can tell me that the European car of the Year winner can compete with a recycled, chop job from Ford's derelict Indian stable.

This polo is not exactly the car that won the european car of the year, this is a stripped out version. And regarding the Figo,it is based on an older fiesta platform which was well received in europe.

With the petrol engine figo is way better than the polo.
