Quite interesting to see how people cry out for honda's blood everytime the mention of a jazz comes up. Now with the X version, i find it all the more amusing that people are predicting doom etc. Honda is a big brand, and if after the dismal sales and knowing very well that few takers exist for a hatch above 8 lacs, they still invest time and energy to launch an upgrade, they have their own reasons and i would just leave it to that. If someone cannot shell out that much for the car, i guess its best to just leave it at that, rather than cry out loud and blame them for overpricing etc. I was contemplating it, just did not feel justified and left it at that, i still feel its a great car and wish they reduce, but if they do not, i do not wish to blame them and want it to fail etc. I am really interested to see what happens to the city post vento launch, not because it matters to me, more because i wish to see what the predictors of doom for honda will have to say if at all it does not affect the city

happend to see the Jazz X right besides my cab at a traffic light, loved the blood red color and the metal finish alloys,. has a slightly different front grill in red color itself didnt notice the interior or the rear spolier.. it does have prominent Jazz X badging. the car was UP registered, i feel its Honda Company vechicle for demo runs etc.

Driver seat adjustment, at last! What it now lacks is power fold mirrors. Hoped Honda would have added that too.

BTW, extensively driven one over this week, a friend's car. Has to admit it is a wonderful car, if one could forget the price.

I still don't understand Honda's strategy here. Of course, it's a great product, has amazing looks, but the pricing and subsequent strategies are insane. Has it ever worked for any product? Adding small goodies and increasing the price again on top of an already inflated price would only bring brickbats.

Much has been discussed about the pricing, but my few cents. At 7.45L ex-showroom who exactly is the target audience? It's not for performance enthusiasts, it's not for a customer looking for a premium hatchback (as the pricing spills into sedan segment). I see only the following options for Jazz to thrive

1. If Honda plonks its 1.5 i-VTEC from the city in the Jazz for the extra 35K over regular Jazz and name it Jazz Y or Z, it might attract enthusiasts.
2. Reduce the price of regular Jazz by atleast 1-1.5L. You might face some market uprising by existing customers. But given the sales numbers, Honda might fetch more customers than their total sales base within 3 months with such good pricing.

OT and on the funny side:
Sid - I read your statement and started laughing. "I don't know what to click" and immediately saw the X mark in the next pic. Geeks might get the joke.

1st thought that popped into my head:
Now wouldn't this make for an excellent 2nd hand buy?

I mean, the price would then be reasonable & this is THE hatchback to buy. In terms of practicality as well as quality.
For those who love a bulging rear, with a boot like that in a hatchback, who needs a sedan?
(Also most people forget the rear seat folding option in hatchbacks when they compare boot space to sedans. In this case, it would be enormous!)

The closing seal in this sweet deal would be that along with the equipment & this particular colour, it looks good too!
(And im guessing it will only look better with the new grill & spoiler)

@Xehaust That is a very good idea and i am sure these things are depreciating quite a bit.At saner price levels its an excellent buy.

I dont know how many Jazz owners have noticed this but the Jazz stereo is not only uSB capable but bluetooth capable too. I have seen the logo lights on the display panel.

But does anyone know if I can get the uSb port on my car?

Would it be possible to have those gunmetal alloys on an ANHC? I mean are they the same size?

Well! Now who's comparing Cars to Cell Phones.
That was a very small example which i Took to prove that its not possible to do so with cars.
You see I'm not with the price drop of the jazz , I'm against It.

Vinay would agree if I said that we don't usually agree on too many things but this time around, I think he is absolutely right when he says that Honda cannot reduce the price.

Re-pricing(downwards) is a very tricky issue, and usually has a very negative effect on brand image. Just to take an example, Daewoo reduced prices of the Cielo (by 1.3 lakhs, that too so many years back) and instead of sales going through the roof, they actually slowed due to lower customer confidence. Now, add resale value into the equation not to mention the irate owners. That may be an extreme example, but Honda cannot afford to mark down the price significantly. What they can do is add more standard goodies, but they have chosen a different path here.

If we look at the bigger picture, Honda actually might make us realize that a large spacious hatchback is a great option when compared to a sedan. In fact, I already believe that VW, Hyundai etc. are getting more acceptance for their premium hatchbacks because the Jazz makes them look like they are bargains waiting to be picked up.

The Jazz sold 500 odd units this month, I have a feeling that it's going to pick up slowly over the next year and a half (even at current prices).
