Definitely looks inspired from the Insight from the front & has a 2.2L i-DTec engine with an output of 150 BHP.

Another, report, this time from Zigwheels on the new Civic that could be the one to be launched in India (minus the kit):

Honda unveils the New Honda Civic at Frankfurt Page - 1| Zigwheels.com

At least the Interiors of Civic TypeR on Zigwheels URL are much better than the one in Latest US / EU Civic 2012.

Good News is "Honda scrambles to revamp Civic": Link is here

Wish they make is better this time, if they seriously take the New Civic back to Drawing Board, to re-design is bit more Radical, some what on the lines of Latest Hyundai Elantra which is expected to launch in India mid-2012.

The Civic hatchback looks so delicious, not to mention the 2.2 L, 150 Bhp Diesel.

I for one will love to see a whole new segment of hatchbacks oriented towards power and performance. Maybe a Luxury hatchback segment, featuring the likes of Cruze hatchback, and the Civic hatchback. clap:

It's just too bad about the Indian mindset against paying more than 7-8L for hatchbacks.

For once, I am totally disappointed with Honda for the way in which they have lost the plot completely with the new Civic. When I convinced my parents that the latest Civic will not be as good-looking as the current generation model that is on sale in India, I was refering only to the design aspect. Somehow, I had the inner instincts that the design of the next-gen model will not be a match for the existing one. But, never did I imagine that the new Civic will be such a disappointment.

Well, atleast now, Honda has decided to go back to the drawing board to give the all-new Civic a nip and tuck along with much-needed improvements in many aspects like interior quality and handling. Let's hope that the face-lifted new Civic lives up and matches the competitors Hyundai Elantra, Chevrolet Cruze and Volkswagen Jetta.

Thats not good for a company like Honda. What kind of road testing did the Honda people do? Now the question arises that will they be launching the new Civic 2012 or the new Facelifted Civic 2012 in India? ;) Hope they dont take the Indian customers for granted.

I hope people are smart enough not to buy the New Civic 2012, with the same being replaced post haste in the US after real bad feedback in just an year's time.

Cheers

Years back Honda forced the world's largest automaker scrambling back to the drawing board to redesign the world's largest selling car.
And now? History repeating itself.

Few more photos of the new Honda civic.

Just like everything else Honda , this too will eventually grow on the buyers. The rear looks absolutely hideous and reminds me of the old gen camry. The interiors have taken a back step to with dis jointed angles. Its a Honda and should sell when it comes. And yes honda it is time you bring in that diesel.

Not sure if I have posted these pics before. These were the pics of the 9th gen Civic sold in US market. The car looks fairly big when seen in real life, like a bigger brother of the City. Finish is quite good for an entry level car in US. Expect fit, finish and quality to be better when it will be sold here.

Just found these pics of the south african civic. This version will come to India.
Sourced from various SA media websites.
Length shorter by 15 mm
wheelbase shorter by 30 mm
boot space larger to 440 litres.
improved shoulder room and width inside.

Looks better with the new rear , but the current civic looks much better. Changes are only cosmetic though.

Its the quality of the pictures, that make the car look better than what it really is.

BTW - The current steering wheel looks million times better than the awful 3 spoke unit pictured here.

Quoting my own post as I was not clear in the last post.
I saw this car in person, checked out several color options and trims. It is not bad. If fact, on its own right, it looks pretty ok. Its just that it does not match up the current one.

Now if it is sold in the form as we see in the pictures, I feel that it will certainly be a better car to covet, own and drive when compared to Altis, Elantra ( or i- whatever), Laura, or Cruze. The R18A engine will not be a game changer in a diesel centric C+ (13-17 Lakh) market segment, but the quality, fit and finish along with the futuristic interior design will certainly demand a second thought.

this does not look as bad as projected by many websites/media. i somewhat like the interior treatment more than the exterior changes.
hope the India version comes with a better/stiffened suspension.

New Civic looks like the City, which is not a bad thing in a way, because I like the City's looks. But, there is no doubt in my mind that the current Civic looks much better. Interiors look good.

Shorter length, shorter wheelbase and increased boot capacity - does that mean that interior space (leg/knee room) will be lesser than the current Civic?
