Excellent Information, Thanks Sid. On one hand I would say the pricing show TATA's confidence about the product and on the other hand, as a common man, I would wait for a few more months to see if there is a version2 of this product or the product's success as such before going for it.

Hi Sid, Nice info and very useful. If the mods can give permission can we use the information on our site and give you a link back ? If not no worries. :)

Thanks,

Kamal.

Cool product, expensive price band. TATA may be targetting absolute utility purchasers who have a definite reason to but the Aria. The others can look at the Innova and ilk. I am also suspecting that TATA is might want to eat into Sub 20L MUV/ SUV foreign brand territory.

Saw the Aria today parked opp VW showroom in Worli today, the van had come to pickup someone from the showroom.Looks smaller than the Innova from outside.

WHOA!!! Now this is what I call a 'fully equipped car'! The list of features is endless! Although the price could be a deal breaker, but I am sure there will be 16 lakh worth of equipments and quality in the cabin

:thumbs up to Tata

Good work both the Sids. clap: Its such a beautiful list of accessories. TATA can price the car in the mentioned range, but the product needs to be absolute quality one!

If TATA could manage it, i am sure this would rock the market. The interior pic with the seats folded gives an impression of a train ! what space -- looks like a KING size BED to me too. And more lovely, the ground clearence! TATA is clearly targetting products from one segment below and above as well. One product which targets the users from two segments! Now thats cool. Lets see how the review comes! yeah GTO's review !

Good division of features across variants.Kudos to tata to offering ABS as standard, they should have offered the base version with airbags as standard too.

I dont think its overpriced. If someone wants a large people mover in 10+ and below 20 lakh range they dont have much options. And when you this long a feature list you have to pay for it.I somehow feel it will take away some customers from the Toyota Fortuner.

I guess these are ex showroom prices. With the taxes in Bangalore, I think the OTR price will be over 14 lakhs for the base model itself !

I was really hoping the base model would be priced around 10 lakhs ex showroom. But this would be difficult, seeing the features on offer.

t has taken almost an year for TATA to finally bring this Aria to market after the Auto Show with No Airbags for base model, for which you are paying 12+ lacs, come on TATA you can do it.I seriously feel that it has been priced high.
Lets see what the market has got for it.

this looks good......no wait, it looks great!! and its loaded too!
would love to see this running here in dubai. if only tata could plonk a 2.4L, 170 bhp petrol engine with auto tranny, it would sell in good numbers in the mid east.
if only...........

As per Sids post, Airbags are provided for the base model as well.
With all these features it will be hard for TATA to price it below 12 lacs

Hill holder assist and LSD are standard in all models.

These features on the base product alone makes the price (if it is really going to be launched at this price) really fantastic value for money. Now if the "value" in the "value for money" doesn't come at the expense of quality interiors, I'm sure nothing's going to stop this one from selling. Compared to this, the top model diesel Innova feels under-featured and over priced, IMHO.

I know, but I have the same question as:

Doesn't any model come in 2wheel drive? Would be awesome if they can remove the Hill holder assist and LSD, and have a New bottom end product with ABS, climate control the other stuff at around 11L, I would think. That'd really hit the other MUVs bad. Unless they don't want to dilute the image for the image conscious?

One thing. I have read from print to internet news that the Aria has been sent to JLR for help in "plushification" of the interiors. Now that gives me a lot more faith that the end product will have that quality feel. Depends on the OEM vendors too though, I suppose.

Also, I think I represent the average Joe here in saying that most people would compare the Aria to the Innova and Xylo. Just because of the looks. So again IMHO, Tata should either initially build an image for the Aria, highlighting the features that help in comparing it favourably with other, pricier SUVs, or price it such that it doesn't matter. My 2p. Opinions?

Airbags are NOT standard on base model. The next two models get twin front airbags and the top model gets 6 airbags. ABS is standard on all models. 2WD is not optional or standard. AWD is standard on all models.

At this price, if TATA gets it right, this could target more than half of the current sedans/MUVs/SUVs in the market.

When people can pay 14.5 lacs OTR Bangalore for a top end Innova, they would pay the same for the Aria, PROVIDED, a reliable and a niggle free ownership experience is delivered by TATA.

On a personal front, I don't like any MUV for that matter.

looks really good in terms of performance and features and worth considering...i have booked innova last saturday and cancelled just now after seeing all this...i was actually missing all this in innova(approx 200nm torque, 102ps) etc and it was really a compromise considering all the atlernatives exists...
keeping my finger crossed on the actual performance figures and the quality
