The cruise control is very tricky after fitting the airbags. I had to try for more than 45 minutes yesterday before I finally managed to fit it on the right hand side of the steering column.

OT :- Tata to spend Rs 1.5 Cr for Aria advertisement
The company has roped in its British subsidiary Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) to improvise the Aria brand, especially features relating to noise, vibration, harshness and also its fit and finish.
--------------------------------------------------------------- |
1.5Cr! The BADC site is a good way of informing people of the features of Aria, while also informing them what those features are (as already mentioned).
On the advertising front, I'd think the Safari ads should indicate that the product positioning and creating a lifestyle related "desire" should be more of a focus. Hope they don't go the "Star to endorse" route. They'll have to figure out how that's to be achieved, though. Can't obviously just copy.
Not sure how JLR could have been involved in the design, as informed TBHPians have confirmed that the JLR purchase happened much later in the Aria development cycle. What could they possibly do now? Would an implied association help the Aria? Maybe it would with most people who are not clear on the timelines. Five days to go, so we'll just have to wait and see.
This gonna be a great move by TATA!! its a fully loaded with all goodies! and looks also superb!
Good Luck TATA!
I made it into the short listed 100 assemblers! I received a notification mail also.
Yes, but they want you to travel to mumbai for a 11th Oct 2010 launch on your own expenses if you are in short list of 10. Considering 10th is next week , the flight costs would be quite prohibitive. It was a good campaign, but I guess they didn't think through the last bit. What if a person from Imphal, or Jammu gets selected, you can't expect them to come all the way to mumbai just to attend the party.
On a positive note, I think that this campaign has made many more people aware of the Aria, as participants were expected to invite , and it kinda of just picked everyone from the gmail contacts.

The day when I entered gmail id and password in this site to send invite to all my friends then in the evening GMAIL alerted me that my email account has been accessed from US. That moment I changed password of my account.
The Teaser site "Build a Dream Car" now shows that the car is the Tata Aria (as of 9PM on October 7, 2010).
Mods, has anyone from Team-BHP been invited for the event or for a Test Drive yet? Will anyone be approaching Tata Motors? Since this car has generated 28 pages of interest even before being launched, we might give it priority. What say? :)

Totally agree with you V-Drive. I confess to burning some mid night oil and fixing that car up successfully early on. I did receive this invite mail. Unfortunately, I was traveling and didnt check mail on further shortlist of the top 10 or top 3 - who knows. I do share similar feelings that these guys didnt execute the ending well and using Facebook or Twitter as a main channels was plain silly. However, I look forward to test driving the vehicle and make up my mind on whether I like it. I sure like the kind of features its packed with.
Just waiting to test drive , doesn`t it look better than Innova?:D

agree:agree:
Have to agree with you guys, they haven't planned ahead.
Heck, i find my name shortlisted in the top 100 , but i didn't even get a notification mail!
this is what i read in ACI's latest issue-
better late than never. kudos TATA.
That is really a BOLD Move from Mr. Ratan Tata
Aria's Few initial Test Reviews should some what indicate that how seriously Tata engineers have tried to implied what has been said. Zero Defects from right day 1 means they need to set significantly high standards.
:OT But what about existing product line, will this be implied to each and every production batch of existing product coming out hence forth ?

Let me get this straight, people running Conglomerate who were smart enough to increase its revenue to ~$80 BILLION weren't smart enough to think that it would be better for Tata to have all its products defect free from day one ?
Also, did Ratan Tata CC'd this diktat to this Journo ??
Sorry, I have little faith in Indian journalists, wasn't this the reason TeamBHP was started because same journalists weren't deemed trustworthy enough ?
Again, these are days of Paid news and this news implies that Tata == Bad quality. If our journos can take money from Politicians(
according Press Councils finding) why would people from same fraternity hesitate to take money from some competitors to position Tata Motors vehicles within the mind of prospected customers below their own ?
Tata Motors CEO was in Paris few days back, he was asked about Nano : its sales prospect abroad and also about the fire incidents. Please watch the video :-
Tata's Forster on Outlook - Video - Bloomberg
Here is what he said :
Quote:
When asked about cases of a few Nanos catching fire, Forster said it is being investigated. "There were three or four cases. We are finding out what it is. It's a strange mix of some misuse, some…after-sales equipment. And we are getting to the bottom of it. We have to find ways to protect against some of the misuse," he said.
|
Too much have been made about 3 cases out of over ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND... And almost every thread regarding Tata have certain posts which are completely OT that keep on bringing this up.... :deadhorse
